On-tap.

A: The altbier is a dark copper color, barely translucent with a steady stream of bubbles. A small off-white head accompanies the ale.

S: The nose is malty, bready with caramel, alongside an earthy hoppiness. The hops stand out, firmer than the malts.

T: Rich caramel malts are a strong set-up, lightly toasted with a sweet undertone. An earthy hoppiness stands out, overstepping the malts. Closer inspection reveals nuttiness and bolder malt flavors that have darker fruits in spades. The combination, floral and chewy and sweet, is nice.

M: Darkly sweet, the altbier has a nice finish with fruits and caramel. Hoppiness comes and goes, bitter at times.

On draft at Old Forge. The brew appears a muddy brown color with a tan cap that holds well actoss the top. Some spotty lace paints the wall of the glass as the head fades.

The aroma is overall mild and quite muted with a light caramel grain to biscuit quality being the only real presence to be noted. As it warms up, there is a faint fruit inclusion.

The taste is peculiar with an unexpected strong flavoring of apple. The back the apple is some caramel to toffee grain quality. A mild yeasty ester and hint of alcohol is noted mixing with earthy hop bitterness across the back.

This is a medium to light bodied brew with modest to lower level of carnonation. It displays an interesting green apple character that while not terrible was a bit out of place. This is another offering that take it or leave it, you arnt missing much by not trying it.
