First had: on nitro at Old Forge

This beer seems to get bashed, but I didn't have a problem with it. I was expecting a stout, but was pleasantly surprised to see a hazy red ale pour into the glass, topped with a frothy beige nitro cap, which retained well and coated the glass with lacing. The aroma was pretty simple, toasted malty sweetness, with some minor fruity esters. Taste was similar, bready caramel malts, toasted grains, light herbal hops, with a slightly fruity edge. Mouthfeel was smooth, body was medium. Good call with the nitro!

On tap at the brewpub. Served in a pint glass and as is usual with all their beers, served way too cold. I allowed this one to warn for a few minutes. Appears a slightly hazy rich amber color with about a finger of creamy head. This beer was already added to the database when I came here to review it, but it's style is certainly not that of an Irish Dry Stout. More like an Irish Red Ale. Smells and tastes of lightly toasted and caramelized malts, bread/biscuits. Malty, crisp and creamy. A tasty sessionable ale.
