A smooth-drinking, late-winter wonder. We’ve crafted this English-styled stout using roasted malts and a healthy dose of lactose sugar to produce a creamy-rich beer with hints of roasted chocolate.

A. Slightly aggressive poor looks exactly like Dr Pepper even down to the head, with was ½ inch thick and dissipates quickly to 1/8 inch, then gone with only a film around the rim of the glass with islands of bubbles.
S. Oats, sweet, a little like Dr Pepper and cola.
T. Coffee, sweet almost like a milk stout. Cannot taste the alcohol nor yeast.
M. Feels like flat Dr Pepper. I must really want a Dr Pepper right now.
O. I like it. This would be a good for beginner stout drinker due to it being watered down. Average buzz for 5.6% ABV.

12oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a small off-white head that goes to a thin collar that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is sweet lactic chocolate malts with a little roast.

The flavor is sweet, grainy, lactic, chocolate and vanilla with a little acidic roast. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a decent sweet stout - a little too much on the sweet side for me.

Largely black in hue with some reddish highlights, it was served with only an off-white soapy collar of foam. The subsequent lacing was absent. The appearance is disappointing but rather typical of an Empyrean beer poured at Lazlo’s. Also it was served a little too cold, this is becoming the sad norm at Lazlo’s too. There is no question that the chilled temperature influenced the nose, it smelled cold. I waited until it warmed up before I returned to it, once at a reasonable temperature notes of sweet chocolate malts with a little roasted undercurrents were found. The potency is still small. The palate was very nice; there is a lovely mix of lightly roasted malts that produce flavors of coffee and sweet chocolate milk (aided by the lactose sugar I’m sure). A kiss of bitterness is found at the finish, which is also soft and flowing. Surprisingly clean as well. The palate is simple but tasty. I think Sweet Stouts are generally hard to impress, however Fallen Angel does represent the style well. Medium in body, the carbonation is a little firm; this does hurt the mouthfeel a bit. This is a decent beverage, easy and enjoyable to drink. It is good enough to try once.

Another great brew gift from the head of the industrial group from Nebraska.

Enjoyed from the 12 oz bottle in a pint glass, this fine sweet stout pours a dark muddled brownish black with a moderate light tan head of foam that dissipates to a thin pool and a thick ring with decent lacing. Nose of subdued dark chocolate, light coffee, and dark roasted malts. Flavors surpass the nose with dark malts, some smoke, mildly sweet bakers chocolate, and a light sweet lactose flavor on all sides that ends with a light coffee and sweet malt flavor. Smooth creamy mouth feel is aided by great carbonation. Coating yet lightly bitter malt aftertaste finishes lightly dry----perfect.
