Probably the closest to style I had out of the Empyrean lineup. This dark larger has a cola like appearance when held up to the light. A very light, light brown ring for head with a bit of lacing. A smoky, peaty and malty nose. The mouthfeel is light and carbonated. This beer has a smoked malt flavor with a lager's crispness. The back note is a bit of tannin and a light hop bite. The most robust flavor of the Empyrean lineup. Not a style I would drink a lot of, but a decent interpretation of a Swartzbier.
