On tap at the brewpub during the most recent bottle release.

The beer pours an dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma has a lot of spicy rye as well as some pine from the hops. The flavor is similar. Other than the rye, I get some piney and resiny hops that meld very well together. There is also a good bit of chocolate and roasted malt mixed in, but the predominant flavor is rye. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Black with white head. The head faded quickly and did not leave any lacing on the beer.

Aroma: Roast-y with a tinge of sourness probably from the rye. Not very complex, but not overwhelming for more of a session beer.

Taste: Small amount of sourness, again probably from the rye, rather than an infection. A little about of chocolate that plays with the dominate roasted grain flavor.

Mouthfeel: Moderately carbonated and pretty easy to drink.

Overall: It was a nice beer, I've had better stouts from Freetail, but it was enjoyable. I think the rye added a nice dynamic to the beer.
