The CANQuest (tm) is rolling along in high gear as New Catch-Up Beer Sunday (Week 696) CANtinues in all of its unabated glory!

From the CAN: "Store Cold. Drink Fresh."; "'Laissez la bonne biere verser'" (Let the good beer pour)' "Double Dry-Hopped India Pale Ale"; "syncopation: …"

I Crack!ed the vent on this CAN & beCAN a slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass, but as it poured, it became obvious that there was going to be a bit of haziness, so I CANtinued the Glug to the end. Sure enough, it was Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with a slight haziness. So be it! Nose was on the sweet side, filled with CANdied orange peel & caramel malt, but with some pine mintiness & also some pineapple. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but definitely big for this style. The taste was CANpletely unexpected! I figured it to be another tropical fruit salad, but cool pine & white oak jumped out at me, followed by orange peel, caramel malt and a light pineapple sweetness! OMFG! If I closed my eyes, I would have sworn that I was drinking a DIPA. Man, was this drinking big. Finish was dry, but very cool and minty, like sucking on a Cryst-O-Mint Life Saver. This was a great interpretation of the style, but they could ramp it up only slightly & have a killer DIPA, also. YMMV.

Dirty gold to amber color. Reasonably clear. Modest starting head which settles to rim bubbles. Some initial spots for lace.

Freshly mowed lawn smell. Light on the hop nose.

The flavor is heavily bitter with little notable malt. Moderate body and higher than typical carbonation. Long peppery aftertaste. This fits the extreme IPA category.

On tap at NOLA.

A - Nice clear colored gold pour with thin lacing and light carbonation.

S - Juicy Tropical fruit aroma permeates the nose. Mango, papaya, pineapple, red grapefruit, candy tangerine.

T - Resiny citrus with a lightly lingering citrus/pine bitterness. Some peppery spice and onion on the very back end.

M - Medium body, coats the mouth with resin and creates a cotton-like sensation.

O - One very enjoyable beer!

Pours hazy, orange-brown in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is lemon, lime, dark bread, and grapefruit. Bitter, medium heavy bodied, with moderate carbonation. Makes for a good bitter sipper. Could have several.

A thanks to the reigning champion of canned beers, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a hazy dark orange color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of tropical fruits, some pine. Taste is equal parts tropical fruits and pine, light peaches, moderate bitterness. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow golden color with a tinge of orange and white colored head. Citrus, tropical fruits, light pine, and some dank resinous tones on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with plenty of fruity hop notes.

Pours a very hazy golden color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is good. Lacing is very good. Has a nice fresh aroma. A lot of citrus with some piney resin. Good fresh citrus taste. Smoother piney hop. The dry hopping is evident at the end with the bitterness. Mild astringency at the end. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
