better than others i have had from them, but nothing compared to that bad decision lemur i had the same evening. it was cool to have a few cans of this in our hotel fridge, always appreciate unexpected opportunities to drink craft beer. this is on the edge of ipa, more hoppy and bitter than the other pale i have had from them, but with some significant grain influence as well, a flash of sweetness in nose and taste, a not quite cooked vibe, but something a little more substantial, a light crystal thing, some wheat too maybe in the feel. the hop profile is cool too, higher alpha and northwestern at first, with a pine and oil complexion, but i get some sweeter berries as it moves along, an almost strawberry note, a cool weed-like element too, dank in that way, pungent, and plenty bitter at the end, but not out of balance. good carbonation, a shade off of perfectly fresh i suspect, but drinkable and unique enough to stand out. better cold than warmed up even a little bit, so drink quickly. nice to see these guys continuing to improve, every time i visit new orleans their beer seems better than the last time...

It suits my tastes really well! Right amount of bitterness, alcohol, and bright citrus. Plus a great name!

I am hoping that this beer is much better than purple haze. The beer is 45 degree and served in a pint glass. A gentle pour produced a three finger white head. The head is bright white with retention. The head is a rocky, creamy, and foamy leaving lacing on the glass. The beer is SRM 6 a medium amber color with orange hues. The beer is hazy from the yeast.

The aromas in the beer are grapefruit, grass, biscuit, and yeast.

The flavors in the beer are grapefruit, pine, grass, biscuit, and yeast.

The mouthfeel of the beer is dry and slightly astringent.

The body of the beer is medium, with medium carbonation, and a medium finish.

The beer is okay. The balance in the beer is wonky. Not a particularly a favorite of mine.

A thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a hazy, dark golden/orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, little else. Taste is juicy, grapefriuit, some malts, light bitterness. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip. A few weeks before its 'best by'

L: hazed golden pour with 1.5 fingers of foamy white head. Solid lacing. A bit of yeast sediment in suspension.

S: Fresh citrus and floral notes. Fruity.

T/F: Follows the aroma. Light grains, crisp citrus and floral hops. Mild spice... fruity with modest bitterness. Light bodied and effervescent.

O: A really nice drinking APA. Great flavor, well balanced, and light. Very solid effort.

My Tavour foray CANtinues with yet more CANs that they have shipped to me since signing up. I had a pretty good run during New Beer Sunday (Week 693), but I was left feeling unfulfilled. I am doing my best to get to these as quickly as possible simply because they are just so intriguing. It is an integral part of The CANQuest (tm) to have this inherent curiosity.

From the CAN: "Revival: The word that many say represents the recent history of New Orleans, which is the city that inspired the band, The Revivalists, who inspired our latest American Pale Ale."; "The Roots of Music New Orleans, Louisiana"; "A portion of the profits from this beer goes to The Roots of Music, empowering New Orleans youth while preserving our musical heritage."; "'Laissez la bonne biere verser'".

That last means: "Let the good beer pour" & I did just that, in the form of a Glug, once I Crack!ed the vent of this CAN. I let it do its own thing, which was foaming up to form better than three fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with excellent retention. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose smelled very pine-like & my mouth began to water in CANticipation. Mouthfeel was medium, but prickly and highly carbonated. The taste was very nice with light pine and tangerine orange as its standard bearers. Given the wide range in this site's style descriptors, it would be hard to go wrong & they did not. Still, there has to be some way of quantifying it & I like to us SNPA as my standard. Its hoppiness was under CANtrol, so it was not an AIPA. Good. I especially enjoyed its biscuit/toasty maltiness along with its its slight saltiness. This may mark me as crazy, but I swear that I tasted sea salt & CANbined with the malt, I was thinking of pretzels! The beer had a semblance of pretzel flavor, but I suddenly craved a pretzel, enticed by this beer. Finish was dry, slightly salty and if you don't think that I was thirsty for another beer, you would be sadly mistaken. Wow!

Other people i drank this with liked it. I like pale ales, and Envie is one of my favorites. There was something offputting, possibly h eavy Simcoe, not sure, but it fell way short of Envie or C ommotion or Bird Bath lots of other local pales

Slightly cloudy, amber-orange body; lots of lively carbonation; thick, sticky head. Pungent citrus aroma; oranges. Light malt grain flavor; gentle esters; robust hop bitterness. Medium body; a little watery but still crisp and clean overall; mostly dry finish.

A very nice pale ale, light in character except for the hops which come out bold yet balanced.

A delicious APA. Local, hoppy, not too bitter, and great after taste.

Revivalist has a thick, ivory head, an opaque orange-tan appearance, and substantial glass lacing. Aroma is of sweet, white bread and citrus. Taste is similar, with mellow, resinous bitterness. Medium mouthfeel & mostly dry finish.
