This 6.0% ABV ale is a West Coast style India Pale Ale that combines 6 malts and 6 hops with additional dry hopping for three weeks. It takes about a month and a half to make each batch and we think it is worth the wait. Hints of pine and citrus with a powerful, yet balanced hoppy flavor, Hopitoulas packs a punch that you won’t forget.

These NOLA folks do good work, usually. This is a disappointment. Looks a warm golden color with a frothy head and lingering lacing. Not much on the nose, and the taste is a generic hop bitterness. The finish is somewhat interesting, but not that much.

Pours a bright, effervescent gold with 2+ fingers of pearl colored head. Nice head rerention & lacing
S: Rich breadyness, lemons, nose fades as this warms
T: Follows the nose, skewing towards cakeyness, grassyness & dryness up front. Pineyness surfaces as this warms, some bready sweetness, lemons & dryness as well. Finishes piney with some bready & grapefruit notes
MF: Medium body, dialed back carbonation, good balance
Old school IPA that is well balanced and very drinkable

16 oz can purchased at Martin's in NOLA, $1.99 / can, best by 5/21/21 into Boiler snifter.
Caramel-blonde with a creamy white cap of a stable 1 finger. Lacing in generous amounts.
Aroma consists of caramel toast and lawnmower bag; hints of onion powder, caramel roll, and citrus peel.
Flavor is what I imagine hoppy caramel paper would taste like. It's like licking the underside of parchment baking paper where caramel-something used to be. There's a little bit of pine or grass, and a touch of onion, but it's mostly caramel paper. There is not enough hop action here to really claim IPA - it's super muted. It's a newspaper beer.
Feel is pleasantly resinous and semi-creamy with no alcohol heat and a smoothness to it that I feel is really helpful to this beer - though not helpful enough.
Overall, it's a dumper, don't visit this one unless you're a fan of papery caramel beers. One of the least enjoyable IPAs I've brought back.
This is for people who drink Diet Fanta.
Price paid : $1.99
Would buy again : no and no

Another amber colored ipa with 1/3" off white head. Gives off mild rind and pine aromas, mild amounts of Cascade and/or Centennial. Three weeks is a weird way to describe your dry hopping, usually brewers mention the type of hops and amount, not the time. One hop cone for three weeks is meaningless.
Taste is largely the same pine and rind combo that has been done a million times, but you also get an excessive amount of crystal malt to actually make this worse than the same beer you've had a million times. I think this could easily be classified as an amber ale. Kind of has that step dad appeal of maltiness and bitterness but little flavor. Wouldn't say it had off flavors, rather the recipe itself is just one that I suspect is lacking. You don't need 6 malts and 6 hops for an ipa, that just muddles as a trash bag concept.
I haven't had a lot of beer out of Louisiana, but damn I hope the ipas are generally better than this.

$6 USD for a 20oz pint at the Crown and Anchor in New Orleans, LA.
6.5% ABV.
Hop profile is lackluster. Floral notes (probably Cascade), muted grapefruit. Subdued pine needles. Pale malts give it its backbone. Finishes bitter.
A very forgettable IPA. I'd sooner buy a cheaper widely distributed expression of the style like Lagunitas IPA, which is far better to boot. I wouldn't buy this again, but it's decent.
