Inspired by the original Alt-style beer of Dusseldorf, Crooked Coast brings together the aromas of German noble hops and Munich malt to produce a very refreshing and mellow ale that is the perfect companion on any shape of coast.

A - poured from a 650ml bottle into a tulip glass. It pours clear ruddy amber. The head is off-white laces well before settling to form a ring.
S - estery malty and floral/ citric hops
T - butterscotch malt (similar to an ESB) that transitions very slowly into herbal hops and then into a light citrus/spice finish. The butterscotch flavor is maintained throughout.
M - medium carbonation, medium body, smooth and a waxy/oily finish
D - very drinkable with an interesting mouthfeel

Tallboy. Drank out of a magic-bullet plastic blender top.
A translucent light brown color with minimal head that dissipated quite quickly.
Natural smell, very light, metallic-butterscotch.
Not particularly carbonated, smooth on the tongue.
Lightly sweet, notes of honey, caramel, shortbread, but not rich nor particularly sweet beyond initial tatse. Only a touch of the amber-copper. Very light in flavor.
Easy drinking, but quite boring, as none of these listed notes pop or amount to anything much. Much prefer a bigger, richer, more copper-y amber ale to this.

22 ounce bomber returned from B.C. fall trip.
Slightly hazed bright copper amber pour with finger of orange tinged cream coloured head.
Smells primarily of the bready caramel malt, perhaps a slight floral, earthy aroma.
Taste follows with a strong sweet caramel backbone, a bit spicy, toffee, a hint of raisin which is followed at the swallow with a grapefruit rind bitterness, earthy hops. Through the beer the bitterness lingers gradually slightly overpowering the initial sweetness.
Solid medium mouthfeel with moderate carbonation - the hop bite lingers at the back of the palate - I quite enjoyed, though I could see someone not wanting that bitterness at the back may feel otherwise.

Medium carbonation, very streaky lacing on the side of the glass but very small amount of head. Hazy, unfiltered amber colour. Smells of citrus, caramel and bready dough malt. There's a nice hop bitterness to back up the malty sweetness. Another great offering from driftwood brewery.

One finger head but it holds well and laces. Not as dark as I expected an Alter to be but I liked the unfiltered look dancing in the light copper brew. Scent of bread and fruity grapes. The taste fakes you with some malt and then hits you with hops. More hops than expected from the scent (as advertised it surprises) yeasty fruit cake there too. Very enjoyable and as advertised on the label description along with a nice presentation.

Big fan of Driftwood, but not this. A prime example of why I dislike Altbiers. I got a really strange, grainy texture on the tongue that made it almost impossible to drink. Grassy, earthy hops, some sweet malt and a strange tartness. Not for me.

Bottle: Poured a clear light copper color Alt with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry caramel malt with light cereal notes is quite enticing. Taste is also a mix of dry caramel malt notes with some clean cereal notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Not bad for the style but missing some of the yeast signature associated to the style.
