Came in a standard pint glass a deep dark cola brown with a thinner beige head atop.Roast with some vanilla sweetness in the nose.A blast of chocolate hits upfront on the palate with some roast and earth then some sweet vanilla in the finish,I liked the chocolate flavors of this beer without the over the top sweetness, well done.

A: Poured from the bottle into a Sam Smith's nonic-style imperial pint glass. Body is black with a half-finger khaki-colored head.

S: Roasted malt with a touch of chocolate, a bit of vanilla and a hint of char. Good nose.

T: Roast up front, but it never seems to fully take off, if that makes sense, before the chocolate and vanilla flavors step in. Hint of charcoal is noted after a few sips, though I didn't get that at first. Heat from the 7.0% ABV (per the label on the bottle) isn't noted on the palate, but is felt in the belly. Finishes with lingering vanilla and cocoa powder, but in a pleasant, laid-back sort of way rather than as an aggressively cloying sweetness.

M: Medium in heft, modestly sharp carbonation.

O: This is better than I expected. Probably wouldn't want to drink more than one just because of the sweeter finish, but it's good stuff.

A standard pour displays a black brew and builds up a solid tan head. It settles in at just less than a finger's height and shows solid retention. Lacing is left on the glass in pretty good patching with some lacing following.
The chocolate comes in nicely, a bit of the bittersweet backing the roast but turning towards a more milky sweetness so as not to be overtaken by it. The vanilla adds a nice sweetness that is neither understated nor overstated to balance and rests in the back, but is ever-present. Otherwise, roasted grains is strong all the way through, but never leads to harshness of any kind.
This is fairly thick for a porter and creamy, certainly rich enough to be called a stout by some standards. It moves from semi-sweet most of the way through to semi-dry after some woody notes pull into the finish.

Fall 2015 beer.

Poured a dark brown with a nice khaki head. Nice carboantion. Vanilla, chocolate, coffee, roasted notes on the nose. Taste follows with the roasted malts and chocolate, bakers cocoa, firm bitterness, nice mouthfeel that's just right for a Porter. Very nice beer. The vanilla is subtle but in there all the same.

Nice looking porter, classic finger of tan head and black, med. thick look to it.

Neutral sweet, caramel, and vanilla are the strong aromas, underlaid with chocolate, very light roast, and merest hints of coffee.

Just like the aroma, the flavors equally dominated by caramel and vanilla, but chocolate is a strong player here also. Yeasty notes make their appearance as it warms, not in a good way, and it also gets some ashiness going on.

Over carbed, too light body, mediocre finish, and a flavor profile that should be cleaner.

Got this on the discount rack. No regrets for 4.99, but not a great beer, not recommended.

Nice roasty\chocolate malt notes. Black pour with a mocha colored foam. Finish is spot on for a porter. Easily my favorite from this brewery and worth trying again.
