Eye Candy: Poured silky smooth with a small tan head. Dark as your closet with the light off.

The Nose Knows: I almost ordered one so I could just smell it. That would have been too wierd, would have ended up getting kicked out. Lovely chocolate and bitter coffee aroma. Maybe Pearl Street should make Canal Street flavored air fresheners.

Tongueland: I would drink this even if it was non-alcoholic, that's how good this is. Actually ordered instead of dessert (and appetizers and dinner, too).Goes down too smooth, no bite to it. I must admit that I feel bad drinking a stout before it warms to bring out other flavors. I cant leave it alone long enough to find out.

This is as good as it gets. The other day I woke up and wanted a Canal Street for breakfast.

A very good stout. I like their chocolate version better but that's just preference. Light lace nice head. Light carbonation. All around delicious

On tap at Pearl Street Grill and Brewery in Buffalo, NY.

Pours a fairly dark black, with a small half inch head, and a little bit of foamy lacing.

Smells like earthy roasted malt, some smoke, and a marginal amount of chocolate. Not the strongest smelling stout ever, but it is a session stout, not going to bowl me over here, I'd guess.

The taste is similar, and pretty solid. Tastes like a cross between an oatmeal stout and an Irish dry stout. A good amount of roasted malt, some chocolate, and the slightest wisp of smoke. Mildly and pleasantly bitter.

This one goes down incredibly easy, like a good low ABV stout should. Definitely tastes stronger than 4.5%, but drinks like it's 4.5%. Creamy, smooth mouthfeel, finishes dry.

An excellent session stout, could drink a few of those easily.

tap

Pours jet black with a light tan film for a head.

Smells of smokey mesquite, oats, cocoa, coffee, and a hint of vanilla.

Flavor has a mesquite flavor at first, followed by some oatmeal and vanilla with a hint of cocoa.

Medium body with a tingle of carbonation on the tongue.

Pretty nice slightly smokey stout with good flavor and aroma, worth trying for sure.
