Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.20%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Hop Box is our tribute to hops! Bury your nose in a glass and inhale. Pungent aromas immediately enrich your senses. Hop Box has both pine and citrus notes that arise from the bucketfuls of hops we add to the kettle and again into the fermentation tanks. We attempt to pack as much hop flavor and aroma into your glass as possible. Drink in the rich resinous flavors that elevate the heady aromatics. The hop box sips crisp and finishes dry with a lingering bitterness that begs you to take another sip.

Making this quick but this is a delicious, cloudy imperial IPA with a great juicy hop/rich malt balance. Bought the single can for less than $2, it's a steal. Get it.

With added alcohol comes the inherent rebuttal of residual malt sweetness. Yet to keep the ale hop-dominant, a plethora of late addition hops give this Imperial IPA a juicy hop impression with understated complexity and balance.

Hop Box pours with a diffused golden-orange hue, capped by a moussey lather of foam. Its ripe and vibrant fruit impressions are leading with tropical fruit and fruit punch with citrus tones following closely behind. Its undertow of biscuit, caramel honey and shortbread give a sweeter upstart to the otherwise bitter beer.

The understated malt balance on the middle palate is modestly sweet and cakey. With fruit esters rising from its depths and the hop flavor fully in command, a marmalade togetherness comes about. But its the dry pineapple, mango, apricot, passionfruit and red grapefruit that carry the taste into finish.

With the sweetness fading, the hops and alcohol work in tandem to dry the beer in a proper IPA kind of way. With the bitterness of citrus pith and soft pine shavings growing, the finish is semi-dry, crisp and trailing with the aftertaste of fructose and citric acids.
