Delock's Discount Liquors

Right down the street from Three Floyd's we stopped by here after arriving before they opened for lunch. From the outside it doesn't look like much, the inside is more of the same. Dirty, old rundown liquor store. Decent size. The back wall is all bottles of beer, to the back left is a cooler with six and twelve packs...The selection is pretty decent, mostly stuff you can find in Chicago. They did have Hopslam, 6 packs and the mini keg. Awesomely, they had a couple Hair of the Dog beers (Adam and Fred) and Schalfy, both of which I can't get in Chicago. The selection was good, mostly American beers, some Belgians, not many sours though...The service was lacking, didn't talk to anyone until we made our purchases... Not a destination spot but if in the area I would stop by again.

 

 

 

 

Very average liquor store. The selection want terrible they have most of what I was looking for. The people were friendly and it is worth stopping, but don't go out of your way.

I'm local and no longer shop here due to recent price gouging. The guys working behind the counter do their jobs and are pleasant enough but I've never seen an employee approach a customer with the offer to help or make a suggestion without prompting. With prices easily being the highest in the area when new releases hit the floor I'd rather travel a bit further and give my money to a business that isn't as opportunistic.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is a tiny little places (fittingly in Munster) with an even tinier beer selection. That said, what they did have was great quality. There was actually more FFF styles available here than at the brewery itself the day I was here. There was also Madame Rose on the shelf, Sun King and Fat Head's Head Hunter IPA!! Service was very friendly as well. Worth a visit.

Stopped here on a whim while driving to the expressway from Three Floyds yesterday. As others have stated and I agree, this is a somewhat shady place. Walking in there was a tweaker outside the store and he gave me a crazy look when I walked in the store. No joke – I was seriously thinking he was thinking of doing something crazy. Anyway, I get in the store and there is the typical liquor store setup with the craft beer directly to the back of the store. While the selection was relatively small, there was a couple good finds here such as Saison Brett and HofTD Fred. Other than that, the store was nothing special. I was not greeted nor asked if I needed help despite my being the only person there. They just kind of stared at me when I walked in. If you are in the area, go to the Liquor Stop first, and this second. Prices were about average for what I bought.

This is the closest store to FFF... But this is not the best store around.
Personally, I prefer Wise Guys (in Merrilville- 20 min south east) or "The Liquor Stop" (about a mile away).

This store has some good beer-- lots of FFF and Founders and Bells. (the 'big three' of midwest shopping).

The employees don't really offer to help, but they aren't rude either. The best stuff gets picked clean pretty quickly here due to the proximity to FFF... They usually have some Expedition Stout and other similar beers (read: delicious, seasonal, and underhyped).

I usually don't stop here, but I'll warn you-- this place is betterthan the other Delocke's in Dyer!

On a trip from San Francisco to Chicagoland and Munsterland. Stopped in here after visiting Three Floyds Pub. I had purchased 4 bottles of Dreadnaught at the pub and that was all they had. So I headed here in search of more. Fortunately, Delock's had 3 cases of Dreadnaught, and I picked up 8 more bottles. I believe they are as fresh as at the Pub itself. They had a good selection of North Central craft brews and other craft brews form around the country. Nothing like Binny's or West Lakeview, but more than I'd expect for what seems a basic package store. Definitely an improvement in the craft selection over what they had when I stopped in about 3 years ago on Dark Lord Day, but even back then they were selling some Three Floyds, which is why I had them in mind this time. I also picked up 4 bottles of Boulevard Imperial Stout and another 4 bottles of Southern Tier Choklat. Prices for Dreadnaught were the same as at the Pub and generally, their prices seemed reasonable. I managed to get almost the equivalent of a case discount from the helpful clerk at the register. As for atmosphere, the checkout is a raised area with glass partitions that kind of gives you the feeling it is in a high crime area.

Stopped here to look for some items that we didn't get at the FFF brewpub just down the street, and low and behold there they were. I got bombers of Behemoth here, but there were none to be had the brewpub. This place is however a little seedy. The cool thing is they have some Hair of the Dog and Schlafly which was good because you're not gonna find that in Illinois so it's good to know that's accessible. The place was a little dirty, definitely not geared towards the good beer, but they had enough that make up a good selection. The guy at the desk checked to see if they had something in stock for me, but other than that it seemed like a shady little Indiana liquor store. I wouldn't suggest stopping there unless you wanna get bombers a couple of weeks too late from the brewpub.

We stopped in here following our first official visit to Three Floyds. It's a pretty shady-looking and tiny joint in a strip mall between a Subway and a Verizon dealer. The inside isn't much better than the exterior. The beer is found along the back wall. There's a mountain of BMC over on the left (near the coolers that wrap around further back), while the good stuff covers the shelves to its right. There isn't all that much in the way of selection, but there's some good stuff to be had. We were able to pick up several bombers of this year's Behemoth (which was sold out at the brewpub), as well as a few other FFF brews. Nothing too special, though. The guy behind the counter seemed genial enough, though only minimally responsive when posed with beer-related queries. Overall, I wouldn't really call this place a destination, per se, but it'll do either in a pinch or if the brewpub is sold out of something.

Used to go to delocks before I discovered the liquor stop here on BA. There selection has pretty much every Bud Miller Coors that you could possible imagine, in nearly every different bottling size that you could imagine. What they don't have is a good selection of craft beer. They have three floyds (then again so does every liquor store in northwest indiana), and a few others (and I mean a few!), but that is about it. Also when I would go there the people working were always talking on their cell phones and never even seemed to acknowledge the customers. I stood there for almost five minutes one time while I waited on the person behind the counter to finish their phone conversation.
To sum it up they're pretty much the same as every other liquor store you see in northwest indiana with the exact same type of service.

Stopped here before Dark Lord Day and am just getting around to reviewing this place now.

Tucked in a mini strip mall and opens into a small little package shop. Place is mostly filled with BMC products apart from a decently stocked cooler selection that carries most of the Three Floyds line up as they should as they are only about a half mile from the brewery. So hopefully freshness is not a problem when it comes to these beers. A Stone here and there, Bells (which was a Godsend when they were still holding out on us in Illinois about a year ago) some Upland beers but that's really about it. Highland has a better beer store and it's only about two or three miles away. This place was nice to pick up a few last minute/ last thought beers before heading out to Dark Lord Day, but as a day to day stop, not really the best the area has to offer.

Stopped in here yesterday on my way back from FFF. When I first walk in I can tell this isn't really a microbrew store. Lot's of liquor and tons of BMC products but just a small section of this was devoted to micros. Cooler had a huge selection of BMC and wine coolers with a small section devoted to micros. FFF, Goose Island, Flying Dog, Stone, ST, and the likes where there. Nothing too rare was there and the micro's just seemed to be smashed together with no rhyme or reason. I did find some things that I wanted and left from there. The prices were pretty good and I'm glad I stopped in just for a look and got a couple itemsm that I really wanted.

Not on par with The Liquor Stop in nearby Highland, IN, but it is still one of my favorite destinations when I go north to visit family in Chicago's south burbs. Like mentioned previously, this is a great place to pick up on your favorite Three Floyds brews (both warm and in the cooler). The BMC's dominate the cooler section, but if you take a good look in the cooler, you'll also find a good selection of Leinies (Berry Weiss, etc.), Goose Island (312 Wheat, etc.) and other non-BMC's like Sam Adams. The craft brews are shelved in the back of the store, next to the cooler, and there you'll find a good selection of Bell's (Expedition Stout, Special Double Cream Stout, Cherry Stout, Amber Ale, Oberon, Hopslam, etc.), Stone (IPA, Arrogant Bastard, etc.), Flying Dog (Gonzo Imperial, etc.), Victory (Hop Wallop, Hop Devil, etc.), as well as local brews, Upland (Bloomington, IN), Crown (Crown Point, IN) and Warbird (Fort Wayne, IN). The service is a bit laid back but they'll answer questions if you go to the register area in the front of the store. On an earlier visit, I inquired about Schlitz Gusto (the 60s formula in bottles) and they had the cooler stocked with both 6 packs and 12 packs before my next visit.

Stopped in here on a recent trip to Munster. It's between the highway and Three Floyds. Better selection than last time I was there.
Seems to be more of a BMC, liquor store, with mostly Three Floyds and Bells for the beer offerings. They did have a few other things on the shelf, but aside from being down the street from Three Floyds they don't seem to be interested in craft beer too much.
A shelf on the back wall and some beers in the adjacent fridge. Pretty good selection.
I stopped in here briefly with my wife and picked up some Three Floyds stuff.
Convenient location, but not a place to seek out or to have high expectations of.
