This is a really great place for it's size. You won't find any other small liquor store around with this kind of craft beer selection. The employees and owner are very nice and very helpful. Most importantly they love beer as much as wine and are constantly bringing in different craft brews and imports. They will try to get anything that you want and call you when it comes in. They pack a lot of good beer into such a small place. Nothing else around compares except for the monstrous Table and Vine, which is in another league.

They occasionally have access to some 'limited' beers (nothing too special, sip, beer camps, etc.). Nothing great, prices aren't anything to write home about. Been coming here for a while since I live right across the border, but new store policy is to refuse service to anyone under 25 with an out-of-state license. Automatic 1-star for service with a useless policy like that.

They have a really good selection of beers there. A couple of the bottles are a little dusty so they have obviously been sitting for a little while. If you at all resemble a college student, and your from out of state, either bring a military ID or your Passport. They don't accept out of state college student licenses.

I typically avoid going here, simply because their prices are a bit higher ($1-2 a bomber/six pack); however, the selection is top notch.

Naturally, with such a huge selection, the likelihood of beers sitting on shelves for a long period is much higher. While this isn't going to be a problem with a beer that you are looking to age in your cellar, it is problematic with date sensitive brews. For example, I was in there and they had a Stone Enjoy By still on the shelves, nearly a month after the "enjoy by date." When I approached the clerk about this, she sarcastically replied, "Oh they age well." She obviously doesn't understand that IPAs, especially ones with a name "enjoy by" DO NOT age well.

Conversely, I did come across KBS randomly on another occasion, months after one would typically find them on the shelves. Despite the fact that they gouged me for $10 a bottle, the rarity of such a find at that time of year was too hard to pass up.

Nevertheless, if you are looking for a good selection, and don't feel like driving the West Springfield's Table and Vine, you will be pleased. Just check the dates!

They may have the bigest selection of large format bottles in Springfield, however... a large precentage of them are very old. I mean several years old. Some of which are suitable for aging, but a good portion of them are certainly not. I was able find a 2013 Luchador En Fuego, which I am looking forward to drinking. A very good selection of 6-packs, but again some are very old.

Prices were $1-2 higher than I would expect to pay. They also have all the beer right in the front window, so I would be a bit concerned about skunking. I will probably stick with Table & Vine when I'm in Springfield.

A medium sized, pretty busy store in a strip mall. Mostly liquor and wine, but both sides of the front aisle and a wall of coolers along the left side of the store are BEER. Nice to see beer actually featured and not shunted off to a back corner like many stores still do.

Good effort to stock many popular and recently released items. Some good sales too. My first encounter with Broughtons, which was on sale in three styles for $2 a pint! I bought one of each. OK they were rather old bottles, but still tasted damn good! I also bought Bernardus Abt.12 and Ballast Point Victory at Sea bombers at average prices. Neither is easy to find elsewhere in this area. So that wil give you an idea that they are well above average for selection.

This is rather a hike for me to get to, and mostly through heavily populated areas, but it's definitely worth a stop when in the Springfield area.

Great selection. Clean and well organized. Beer always fresh, never have had to worry of finding something not up to code.. Owner and staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Will try to get you hard to find selections upon request. Always can find a " hard to find" beer. Prices very reasonable, if not lower than most. Owner on hand to answer any questions as well as take requests. Trys hard to stock limited releases. Just a great little spot. Also stocks quite a bit of holiday and gift packs. Great prices on those.

I've been going here a couple times a month for a while now. If it wasn't for Table and Vine, this would be the best bottleshop in the area.
Anyways, pretty great selection. Up to date with some of the newer breweries in Mass (Boulevard, FW for instance). Have a nice, albeit tight aisle of crafts. Founders, Southern Tier, Green Flash, Stone, GD, Ithaca (yay for Flower Power). Good selection of the usual imports.

They don't seem to have much pull in getting the limited release stuff, like recently CBS.

There is some old stock floating around there unfortunately. Recently saw Founders Double Trouble, and if I recall, that came out in April. This doesn't seem to happen often though.

Price seems to vary greatly. Stone RIS was $8.99, while I've seen it in Connecticut for as little as $6.50. Rocheforts were a buck cheaper there than other nearby stores.
There are occasional gems though. Bought two 4packs of Green Flash Double stout for $7.99 each, whereas I've seen that up around $12 at some places.

The beer people there don't seem incredibly knowledgeable, although all the employees have been very polite and help whenever possible.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Johnny Macs. It won't blow away most BAs, but good selection and friendly help make it a worthwhile look.

A gem in my backyard. I'm quite pleased to have this selection so close by. Their craft lane is densely packed, its great to cast my eyes over the selection from week to week and find what newly in. This last week they got a shipment of Boulevard Brewing, a welcome addition. Three of the employees I have spoken to are into their craft beer and give you a nice conversation. Staff is amiable.

The selection of Johnny Mac's will keep me busy for a while yet. The selection is mostly American brews, something I'm ok with. Best close by bottle shop next to Table and Vine, which is not a convenient trip for me. Price isn't the best but is the best around and no reason to skip this local business.

Excellent store for most craft beers. While they do not have the size or buying power to carry large amounts of beer, they do their absolute best to carry everything. If there is something not on the shelves, they are more than happy to order it for you. The majority of the staff is also very knowledgable about the beers they carry. No other package stores in the area carry anything comparable (the only other option is Table&Vine in West Springfield). This little gem is my go-to move. Support local business!

This place is one of the gems of Springfield. The beer selection is great for the size of the store. I would actually be surprised if any store had more unique beers per square foot then this place. Has a wide selection of micros from your standards (DFH, Sam Smith's et al) to some of the more minor ones (Southern tier, Oskar's) and a great import selections. Most things you buy gets you a free glass which is awesome. The staff is nice and truly helpful but some could use a little more knowledge on some of the beers they carry. They do an insane job at keeping up with the beers and will try to get anything you want in.

Johnny Mac's is a great addition to the 16 Acres Area. They carry a WIDE selection of craft brews and hard to find beers. They keep the major sellers in the case but have a whole aisle dedicated to all types of beer. He carries plenty of the big names like DogFishHead (60, 90, 120), Stone, Ommegang, Smith's, etc... plus the locals like Otter Creek, BBC, and Papercity.

In addition to the great beer selection. If you are a regular, the owner can order certain beers if his distributors offer it. He is also a great resource for all of the liquor and wine he sells.

Always a friendly conversation about the Shmorgusboard of brew you throw up on the counter.

I shop there weekly!!!

The quality at Johnny Macs is impressive. They always offer the Trappist beers, Rogue, Stone, Dogfish head, Unibreue etc.

The employees know what is in stock and if not will offer to try and order it for you. Although they lack an extensive knowledge they are willing to make any contributions they can.

Johnny Macs is often the only place around with hard to find items such as The 12 ozs bottles from DFH, World Wide Stout etc. I have also found 12oz bottles of Stone IRS for $3.99 a bottle, Sam Adams Triple, and Red Hook Double Black. These beers are always at a fair price, and never feel as though I paid to much.

All said and done Johnny Macs is a great establishment and well worth the trip when Table and Vine is out of the question.
