Located in Milwaukee's historic Third Ward. A mix of industrial storage and now artsy lofts. And some trendy small plate dining/nightclub places. It really all built around the Ale House and the Milwaukee river. Parking can be difficult, just like anywhere in Milwaukee.

Quality of beers is quite nice. Nothing trendy big beer aged in 19th century whiskey stuff, just great session ales. Pull Chain Pale and Louie's Demise are my faves. Service is standard, server's won't hesitate to help you.

Food is quite nice for an alehouse, definitely try the onion rings. Can't say I've ever had anything bad.

The location doesn't get much better; in the Historic Third Ward, at the water of the Milwaukee River, a quick walk to the Public Market and HOP. Inside awaits beer and plenty of space for seating in a rustic, soft lit interior. A few people inside at lunchtime while being sufficiently staffed and hospitable. Nice touches for any beer and beverage place, but with beer, we must look into detail.

17 house beers listed on-tap, with three of them run dry. Pleasing mix of styles and "brewers day off" beers begining at milk stout and amber ale, into oktoberfest and apricot saison, then bourbon aged amber ale and imperial witbier. Glassware is a step above the boring shaker pints, as large chalices and large tulips contain much of the draft. In addition, over a dozen guest beer from the family of Miller to the likes of Lift Bridge from bottle and can.

Adding texture to the Ale House is good, savory pot roast sandwich, which did me well on a cold (Wisconsinites might call it a chilly breeze) afternoon (forgive me, I'm a Southern California kid learning the Wisconsin way, cut me a little slack). As an added bonus, other good looking beer establishments are nearby as well, so put the Milwaukee Ale House on your crawl.

We visited this brewpub on Labor Day Weekend, on a short family vacation. Located on the river, the place was packed...mostly with patrons having dinner. We sat at the bar, which was large and well-staffed. There were a lot of beer selections. I had a double IPA that was both strong and delicate, with a little tea flavor. Nice venue and worth a visit.

It's a big place with a deck over looking the river. We were there on a Sunday in March and service was a little lax. The food and beer were decent but not great.
