Shotgun Betty is a sexy, tough cowgirl who is always armed and dangerous. Don’t be fooled by her good looks, she will have you for an appetizer! That’s why we picked her to represent our Hefeweizen. Shotgun Betty is a wheat beer with rich, banana-clove nose and refreshing dry finish. Sound good? Try one. But beware, once Betty gets a hold of you there is no escape.

12 oz bottle poured into weizen glass. Best before 5/4/2012, but who's counting?

Pours a crystal clear straw color until I stir up the yeast bed, then it's fairly cloudy. Not much head retention for a wheat beer. Lots of visible carbonation.

Smells of wheat, yeast, and light sour lemon. Pleasant.

Taste is also quite pleasant, but not particularly intense. Mostly wheat and clove, with a little banana at the end. No hop character and only a hint hint of bitterness.

High carbonation, but thin beer. Nice and light.

Nice hefe. I wish I had tried this fresher.

On tap in a pint glass.

Light golden orange color. Translucent, not quite cloudy. Bubbly. Thin cap. Wispy lacing.

Barely their clove, Euro floral aromas.

Clove soaked wheat flavor. Floral and perfume sweetness a la Bazooka.

Light and easy. Hops balance the sweetness. The clove is prominent.

I missed the banana but it has the Belgian/ German/Euro flair.

On tap at a neighborhood festival.
Light golden haze, one finger fine white head. Complete ring and sparse surface bubbles.
Clove, light banana, light mineral aromas.
Flavors lean towards clove, bubble gum; scant banana, citrus.
Perky bright mouthfeel.
Enjoyable summer beer. Not as much depth of flavors as the German perennials.

Look: It pours yellow and clear with a white head. Head retention is good.

Smell: There are some doughy aromas with some clove and very low banana.

Taste: The flavors are of doughy wheat with medium clove. There is very low banana. There is a bit of spice as well.

Feel: It has a medium light body with a clove and spice after taste.

Overall, a refreshing beer.

Poured from a can into a clear beer mug.
Looks hazy orange yellow, White head that dropped quickly.
Smells slightly malty and fruity.
Tastes bready, sweet, banana.
Mouth feel, creamy, dry finish.
Overall, good example of a Hefe, but, wheat isn't one of my favorites, so no, I probably wouldn't order again.

On draft at Bar Louis in Raleigh.

Nice hazey looking Hefe with one finger foam and a quickly dispensing head with semi-OK fingers.

It doesn’t have a light wheaty mouth feel BUT a good Fall-Time-ish full mouth feel....if that makes sense.

Faint clove smell.

All in all: great tasting locally made American Hefe!

Had this beer while working in downtown Charleston SC. Very good American hefe. Banana and clove are present on the nose and taste. Nice tick foamy tan head. Mouthfeel is medium with a dry finish that leaves you wanting more. Very pleased with this 2/$3 16oz.

Poured into a hand washed weizen glass. Poured an orangy-brown color with a quickly disappearing head. A light dry taste that follows through to the aftertaste. Mouth feel is ok, just nothing special. Would rate a most likely no on the Would I Like to Sit Down with a 12 Pack of this beer scale
