Peacemaker is a west coast style American Pale Ale that uses several hop varieties to produce a unique and bountiful hop aroma with a balanced bitterness. A special blend of American and European malts make this a very well rounded, characterful beer.

Tasted On: 03-16-2014
Freshness: Not indicated
Packaging: 12 oz. brown bottle, pry-cap
Glassware: Shaker pint
Purchased: Single from Frugal MacDoogal, Nashville

A: Pours a dark copper-colored beer with a nicely sized white head. Very good lacing and head retention. Quite a bit of floating sediment is seen in the glass -- I'm guessing hop particles?

S: Aromas are pretty light, with a hint of grassy and floral hops and not much else.

T: The taste is mainly of hop bitterness, with no malt character. The bitterness has an unpleasant astringency to it.

M: The carbonation gives this a crisp mouthfeel with a medium body. The finish has hoppy bitterness and an aftertaste of the astringency noted before.

O: Overall I wasn't too pleased with this, my first beer from Lonerider. It seemed like a one-trick pony with bitterness as the only noticeable trait and marred by an off-taste.

Drinking this at The Lonerider Brewery in Raleigh NC.
Poured from a tap into a pint glass.
Looks golden yellow with a nice foamy head that dropped quickly to a thin cap with little lacing..
Smells lightly bready, spicy, piney, lightly grapefruit.
Taste follows the nose nicely.
Mouth feel is medium for the style.
Overall a very nice Pale Ale that I would definitely order again.
Cheers!

Hoppy, but evened out by a good malt character. Smooth mouthfeel. Dry finish.

This one is rather CANplexing. I was going to attribute it to my local, in-person trader but he has not reviewed it. I now believe that it is a result of one of my visits to my aunt & uncle in DC where the depth & breadth of available beers is incredible. Spendy, but unbelievable! The CANQuest (tm), like rust, never sleeps.

From the CAN: "Handcrafted"; "Ales For Outlaws"; "Don't let the badge fool you - Peacemaker is popular with lawmen and outlaws alike. This well-rounded West Coast-style pale ale uses several hop varieties and a special blend of American and European malts for a unique and bountiful hop aroma with a balanced bitterness."

This was a singular failure in that the tab Pop!ped off before it could cause the Crack! to occur. 8={} This rarely ocCANurs, but I had enough exbeerience to know how to proceed. The trick is to use a blunt end of a CANdy utensil, in this case a spoon. A knife edge would simple pierce & be detrimental. Thrust straight down into the center & force the tongue into the CAN. If needed, twice. After that, use a CAN opener.

Having broached the seal, I proceeded with a slow, gentle C-Line Glug that produced just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose had a biscuity maltiness along with a subdued hoppiness. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was mild, slightly hoppy with a pleasant breadiness. Man, this was totally mellow, belying its name. Or maybe giving it truth. A peacemaker is slang for a handgun, but maybe this was meant literally. The beer was really smooth & mellow. I CAN go for this kind of thing on ocCANsion, but this was not one of them. 8=( I felt underserved. Finish was semi-dry, but it just was not making it for me. YMMV.

Hazy copper colored beer with a foamy off white head that leaves gobs of lacing. Smells like caramel, malt and some pine. The taste is caramel with bitter pine and a nice sweetness. Pretty nice beer.

A: The beer is somewhat hazy light amber in color and has some yeast particles floating in suspension near the bottom of the glass. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that died down a bit but consistently left a short head covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of caramel and toffee malts are present in the nose along with notes of citrusy hops and fruity yeast.
T: The taste follows the smell and has light flavors of caramel and toffee malts. No bitterness is present, but there are enough underlying hops to mask any sweetness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No bitterness is perceptible.
O: This beer seems to taste more like an English Pale Ale than an American Pale Ale because the hops aren't very prominent in the smell or taste.

Nice pale ale. Malty without being sweet. Perfect hop balance with excellent flavor. No overpowering aroma like some. Crystal malt is noticeable yet blends into hops on the tongue. I like this beer.

12 oz can. Pours clear light amber orange, little to no head. Very faint aroma, not much there. Sweet caramel malt taste mostly and some grassy hops. Light bodied. Overall ok if looking for malt forward light pale ale, but did not care for the hop character.

Citrus, Resin, Gummy, Level

Very palatable, both malt and hops play very well together. Citrus hoppy flavor has a soft bitterness throughout, pithy. Toasted bread, fruity, fresh grassy hop finish. A little vegtal with a faint kiss of alcohol. While not one attribute really stands outs it is a full on Pale Ale without getting bashed with hops. Job well done guys!!
