11/21/18 (Chicago): $6 Pint glass draft pour at Fountainhead. Amber pour, light off-white head and lacing. Light malt aroma. Nice bread and malt taste, floral sweetness backing. Light mouth feel, thin texture. Overall nice Marzen pour.

Had a glass at Life Kitchen in Chicago on N State. Wonderful taste. Smooth feel. A clear non cloudy copper-amber color. I enjoyed it with my meal quite a lot. Will look for it in New Jersey after the TCOM conference.

28098 1520736 on the bottom of the bottle ? Date code?
12oz bottle poured into a dimpled mug shows a clear amber body and briefly floats a short, but almost fluffy, head of whitish foam.

Aroma and flavor is bready malt and toffee.

Mouthfeel leans lighter medium and finishes clean.

Overall a solid festbier choice.

Very vibrant Oktoberfest. More flavor than I expected, it just popped. I got almost a fruity sweet vibe at first and then settled on a toffee and bready character. Pours a gasoline color, but very refreshing!

Pours a beautiful, crystal clear copper. A picture perfect white pillow rests on the surface and clings to the sides of the dimples in my trusty Krug.

Well toasted sweet bread is surrounded by caramelized sugar in both aroma and flavor, and traces of herbs and spice linger on the taste buds.

A rich and slick medium feel is wonderfully balanced . There is a slight sticky residue left, but is still quite easy to indulge in frequent tastes.

This Oktoberfest beer is more in the vein of the sweet and toasty US style, but an awesome, and perhaps the best example of them that I have had. In a world of confusing Oktoberfest and Maerzens out there, this one stands out as one I would be happy to rely on annually during my favorite time of the year. Prost, and thank you Joe!

Had on tap at a local oktoberfest event, all around really good stuff. Great caramel malts with a bready body for a base, with floral, lemon zest, and slight hops accents. Strong carbonation, but body holds up well. Really no weaknesses, but no key strengths to set apart either

Solid and unexciting.
This is what an O-fest should be. Well-built with a pleasantly blended malt backbone. Sweet and softly satisfying in the mouth. Nothing screams. No cheating with some extra hops or alcohol. Everything knows its place... (kinda of how German culture moved forward for the last seven decades.)

Which brings me to my second review of two Chicago crafters' O-fests in two days. Both revealed to me that each brewer sticks to their knitting in the German tradition and they have learned to produce good stuff. Keep that lesson for a while.

10/10/18 Had again in O-fest season. Still among my favorites. Balance.

Gorgeous clear copper body with a thin light tan head that fades to a ring and leaves wisps of lace around the glass, carbonation rises lazily from different source points. The nose offers hearty, sweet, caramel and toasted malts and nothing more. The flavor is like a biscuit, with those toasty sweet malts leading the charge and a little hop bitterness, like tea, coming in on the finish. The body is supremely light and drinkable, but the bready flavor makes it seem a smooge heavier than it is.
As far as straightforward German-style beers go, this was good. Oktoberfest styles have never been a favorite of mine, but this made nearly pure malt flavor as good as it can be. Powerful but light, simple but balanced, and very easily put down the hatch, I could spend a whole fest with this guy alone.

Unknown vintage; drank 11/23/15 @ the Yarchives.

Poured from the bottle into a glass.

Semi-opaque orange/brown appearance.

A rough pour yielded a nice eggshell head; nice lace.

Sweet corn, malt vinegar & cream soda notes in the nose.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Malt vinegar, cream soda & sweet corn flavors; bold but cloying. Not great.
