12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 2/12/2016. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/pine hops and moderate bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange rind, pine, toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and minimal lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/sticky/resinous, and creamy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.7%. Overall this is a very good IPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

I picked up a bottle of Liberty Street's The American IPA a couple days ago for $1.89 at The Lager Mill. I haven't had the best of luck with Liberty Street. but I haven't given up on them yet and I hope this IPA turns out to be good, so lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into an imperial pint glass.

A- The label looks ok, it looks like a black and white photo of some old aristocrat or something, it's not that eye catching. It poured a slightly hazy golden straw color that took on more of a gold hue when held to the light with five fingers worth of very fluffy white head that died down to a thin layer that stayed till the end and left lots of sticky lacing behind. This is a nice looking beer, the color was nice, but the head seemed a little out of control.

S- The aroma starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with lots of sweet, pale, and grainy malts with a stale malt aroma in the background. Up next comes some hops which impart citrus rind like aromas with some piney and spicy hops in the background. The aroma was pretty average, the malts were pretty dominant and the hop aromas weren't that memorable.

T- The taste seems to be very similar to the aroma and it starts off with a lower amount of sweetness followed by loads of malts that have a pale malt, grainy and stale malt like flavor. Up next comes the hops that impart just a light spicy and earthy flavor with a slightly higher amount of medium bitterness with a grainy and slightly buttery aftertaste. This beer didn't taste too good, it was heavy on the malts with no much hop flavor other than bitterness and there were too many off flavors.

M- Not that smooth, a little sticky, crisp, medium bodied with a slightly higher amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel was ok, but i think the carbonation could have been a little lower.

Overall I didn't like this beer and I thought it wasn't a good example of the style, the malts seems to stick out the most in every aspect of this beer and combined with the off flavors it made for a pretty poor IPA. This beer didn't have good drinkability, it wasn't that smooth and the taste did a pretty bad job at holding my attention, there's no way I would want to drink another and it was a bit of a chore to finish the whole bottle. What I liked the most about this beer was the appearance, it didn't look that bad. What I liked the least about this beer was the taste, there was just way too many things that were wrong with it. I wouldn't buy this beer in bottles again, I might try it on draft if I knew it was fresh, but there's pretty much no way I would revisit this in bottles. I wouldn't recommend this beer to anyone. All in all this was another crappy beer from Liberty Street, when I first tried their beers on draft a couple years ago I thought they were a fairly solid brewery, but ever since they started bottling their beer there hasn't been a single one that I have liked or would revisit. I have one bottle left from them to try, but so far I don't have the highest hopes. Liberty Street is going to have to really step their game up if they want to compete with all the other in state brewerys, this beer needs some major work.

12 Fl. Oz. bottle
Served in a snifter

L - It is amber with some golden highlights. It is topped with a beautiful, luscious, thick pile of fluffy eggshell foam. It clings to the side of the glass.

S - The smell is floral and soapy. Not at all what I expected.

T - The taste is bitter with some funk. It tastes more like a saison.

F - Medium with high carbonation.

O - I wonder if this bottle was infected. This beer is more like a saison than an IPA. That being said it was interesting and enjoyable. It tasted absolutely nothing like the description on their website. This may be a case where infection was a good thing.

Liberty Street Brewing Company The American IPA.

This one was pungent onions with an acceptable caramel maltiness. Didn't feel like fully reviewing it to due the fact it is so fucking standard. All 3s..

Pours golden and orange. Thick, short, white head that lasts shortly. Good lacing.

Smells malty, Citrus, earthy

Taste similar to smell. Bready malt and Light Citrus and Earth. Finishes dry and a bitter linger. Lower medium body and fizzy higher carbonation.
