Visited Sal & Mookies for the first time today with my family. Located in the Fondren/Medical area of town, just North of UMMC and the stadium.

Very relaxed atomosphere with lots of tables outside on the patios. Service was fast, friendly and attentive.

Food was very good. I had one of the hand tossed pizzas and it was delicious. A great selection of ice cream too.

Beer selection was good. I counted about 15 taps including Lazy Magnolia's Timber Beast and about twice as many bottles. Abita, North Coast, Sierra Nevada, Rogue, Yazoo and others.

Will definitely be back.

This is a crazy popular pizza joint in Jackson. There is a more family style dinning area with an outdoor patio. As I walk in, I am greeted by the hostess at the front and that wonderful garlic + baking dough aroma that immediately gives off the warm and cozy vibes. There is also a bar to sit at on the other side.

Around 15 taps. Some filler like Coors and PBR, along with intro crafts like Fat Tire. They did as good of job as they could do with filling out the MS taps. Lazy Magnolia, of coarse, and the Southern Prohibition Baltic Porter was a nice surprise to see. Not the best selection, but maybe I just don't know the selection all the well in MS. As is, certainly above average and I had no problems finding something like Southern Prohibition to drink.

Bar service is fantastic, and kitchen times are fairly slow. Though when all the food comes out homemade and piping hot all is forgiven on that front. The Stromboli was damn good, and the rest of the New York style pizzas look well made.

I can see this as a fantastic spot for families, or just the local hang out for a drink and pie. I can tell that most people in the area agree. It would be one of my local favorites if I lived in the area.

Great place to take your family. Beer, pizza, and ice cream... There's something for everyone. The beer selection was a nice mix of regional favorites and they have a couple of rotating taps to keep things interesting. I'll definitely be back.

Part of the Big 3 in the Jackson area (Bravo!, Broad Street Bakery and Sal & Mookie's)all under the same ownership. Quality is a must at Sal and Mookie's. Italian casual dining for all ages. Service is always fast and friendly.

The ice cream selections are out of sight.

Recently refurbished Pi Lounge to reflect a more comfortable "working class" atmosphere. A pretty good selection of draft beer with Pint Night specials once a month. Over 35 bottles/cans.

Once the new beer law goes into effect in July, I expect Sal and Mookie's to up the ante with lots of specials.

A great place to eat and drink.
