12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of caramel, citrus and floral notes. Sweet caramel taste with mild bitter. Solid and sessionable.

Pretty run-of-the-mill but perfectly okay - some light, piney hops, a little bit of citrus, malt isn’t very noticeable and the weakest part but overall serviceable

Hoppy New Year, continued! It was a good day with my uncle & I partaking of a wildly successful batch of pork & sauerkraut. We had some perry & other non-beer accoutrements, but I am back & ready to drink some beer!

From the Bottle: "No Pain No Jane."; "Official Craft Beer of Winter Park Resort, Colorado"; "Proudly Brewed in Colorado by New Belgium Brewing".

Hmm. The Jane of the label bears a striking resemblance to Jane Fonda in her Roger Vadim era. As a vet, many of us are STILL not Fonda Jane! Or is this Mary Jane Ale an homage to the green cash crop which Colorado is currently enjoying? Hmm.

I Pop!ped the cap, but I could not smell anything untoward so I proceeded with a C-Line pour into the awaiting glass. It briefly puffed up to form just over a finger of fizzy, foamy, tawny head with modest retention, quickly falling away to wisps. Color was a solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with a LOT of floaties in evidence. It was a fresh bottle with an "Enjoy By" date of 03Feb19 so I was unsure of the cause. Nose had a light pine hoppiness accompanied by a light breadiness. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, a little light for the style. The taste was mildly hoppy, kind of evergreen/piney with a continued light breadiness, but it was kind of weak when taken against the style's flagbearer, SNPA. I kept waiting for something to jump out at me & make me think of this in a good light, but it remained bland throughout. Finish was semi-dry, but also only semi-tasty. It just lacked an overall presence. I tried to find out more through the brewery's website, but to no avail. This is apparently a part of a mixed Winter Pack, but it is a good one to palm off on a non-beer person during a party. They will feel elevated & you can feel vindicated.

Look-It has a somewhat cloudy light orange color with a thick foamy white head that was quite persistent. The lacing was thick and lacy. Ample carbonation trails can be seen rising.

Smell-Malts, lemon, pine, hints of citrus…it was hard to tell, because I had a stuffy nose and the aroma was a bit subdued.

Taste-I taste piney and citrus hops with caramel malts, but with some lemon and herbal essences in there. It has a subtle flavor with light-bodied mouthfeel and a clean rinse.

Overall-This certainly is an easy-drinker, but I would have like a little stronger flavor. Not bad. You should try it.

Off pine taste really diminished the finish for me.

Malt: Pale, Munich, C-80 and Victory
Yeast: Ale Yeast
-slightly hazy, copper/gold in color. off-white head that dissipated quickly
-vague malt and herb on the nose
-malty taste with some citrus and subtle ...pine(?)
-fairly carbonated with a dry finish
-not bad, but certainly not the best offering from New Belguim
