I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream beer. This winter, dip into the fridge—not just the freezer—to find a dozen ways to sate your sweet tooth. Our newest collaboration with Ben & Jerry’s brings together two different types of pint-makers for one common goal: to fill your glass with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ale.
To craft this confection, we dove into our favorite chocolate chip cookie recipes for inspiration, and then whipped hefty doses of chocolate, brown sugar and vanilla into a dough-hued blonde ale base. The result is a full-bodied beer that seduces with a perfect balance of vanilla and chocolate, and finishes with just the right amount of sweetness. Put down the spoon, pick up a pint.
In celebration of this year's collaboration, New Belgium and Ben & Jerry's -- both B-Corps -- are once again joining forces with Protect Our Winters (POW) to create tangible ways to fight climate change just as they did a year ago.
Calling this campaign “100 Days to Change Our Ways," the three socially minded organizations want the new Administration to make climate change a priority during its first 100 days. To rally support, events will be held in 12 cities across the country with letter-writing stations, POW athletes speaking out about the dangers of climate change, raffles, and of course beer and ice cream.

Pours crystal clear gold color with a 2+ finger foamy white head that was packed with bubbles, fading slowly and leaving good spotty lacing as a foamy layer stayed on top for quite a while. I expected it to look brown with the cookie dough theme, but it is listed as an American Blonde Ale style.
Smells grainy up front with lager-like vegetable notes which then shifts to milk, vanilla and heavy cream. It resembles milk stout lactose sugar with an odd mix that's grainy and yet kind of sweet. Misses the mark here.
Taste is where this delivers on the chocolate chip cookie dough, with vanilla, milk/heavy cream, faint brown sugar, cookie dough batter, grains, a buttery sweetness, light piney hops and then like the nose some lager-like vegetables. Fortunately the cookie dough impression comes off the strongest with the vanilla, milk, brown, sugar and chocolate chip batter sweetness making this brew hit it's intended target flavor profile.
Mouthfeel is thin, light and smooth, hiding the 6% ABV completely and going down easy. It's too sweet to drink 2 in a row but I'm glad I tried the cool experiment, which was a success in my book.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6%. Clear golden colour, large white head. Aroma of chocolate chip cookie dough (surprise, surprise). The flavour is first fruity / citrussy, then distinct notes of chocolate chip cookie dough. Weird beer, but good. Dangerously drinkable.

This beer oddly does taste like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough but yet isn't gross. I'll give this beer a few points for that. I'm a sucker for these novelty flavored beers, and they typically tend to be weird in a not so great way. This ale, was actually quite OK to drink.

This is the beer that started my love for beer! Everything about this beer is perfect. If I could I would only drink this beer for the rest of my life. Okay, I'm dramatic but honestly this beer is amazing. You can really taste the cookie dough but it isn't too sweet. Hope they bring this back!
