It tastes almost literally like someone brewed an IPA then poured some Russian imperial into it. The two don’t have the blended taste I was expecting. It’s silky which is nice. Good when in the mouth. But the lingering flavor is grassy and bitter around the edges of the mouth. No creamy finish like a good IPA should have.

Nothing really special about this beer and is sort of middle-of-the-road in most respects. For a 9% ABV and considering it doesn't have the taste of a well thought out beer, I would think the booze would be more upfront. Its there, but not too aggressive. Something like Dogfish 90 Minute blows this out of the water....no contest. Still not too bad if looking for a little extra kick. If on sale, possibly I'd buy it again down the road for something different.

Pours golden like a weak bourbon with little head. The nose is not as hoppy as I expected. Taste is clean and has a kick of hoppy bitterness that fades. Not much of a follow though. Decent IIPA

A very nice surprise from a brewer I really would not expect anything less...

Great caramel coloration with yellow highlights, the head pours thick, has little staying power but interestingly enough has decent lacing. The smell is a muted mix of pine and hops - but muted to a very good level - I was impressed. The scent wasn't in-your-face or overly earthy (which I am frankly not a fan of such a thing.) The mouthfeel was crisp yet smooth (if that makes sense) and it was medium-bodied all the way. The taste, for me, improved as it warmed. It actually became sweeter to my sense but still strongly hoppy. What impressed me the most was the lack of tasting the 9% ABV - it was well masked and for that I had to rate it higher than I would have, otherwise. Overall, this truly is a very good beer. Maybe not exceptional, but close to it.

Tasted from a 12 oz bottle.

L - Light golden color with a little orange. Crystal clear. Bright, pure white head starts fluffy and tall and fades to a thin sheet with sticky lacing.

S - Strong aroma of hops is a mix of tropical fruit, apricot and lower pine. There is a tiny bit of malt breadiness in the background. Clean and fresh is the impression you get.

T - Initial flavors are a mix of strong tropical fruit hops and smooth, biscuity malt. The mid-palate brings a new hit of sharper, pine-like hops that last into the aftertaste. The balance seemed too far toward the hops for the style at first, but as the beer warmed the malt reached more parity.

F - Medium body. Smooth, low to moderate carbonation. Medium hops bitterness seems low for the style. Low alcohol warmth.

O - This is an enjoyable Imperial IPA, but not a classic. I found it a bit light on malt character and hops bitterness for the style.
