Enough with the run-of-the-mill pumpkin beers. I’m not interested in an ale that takes cues from a frozen coffee drink, and neither are you. That’s why I made Atomic Pumpkin. Does it really feature habanero peppers? Yep! What about Saigon cinnamon? Ding! Aji and del arbol peppers? Winner. I round it all out with a hearty malt bill that makes for a spicy brew that puts the “Fun” back in pumpkin. (Spelling was never my strength). -- Voodoo Ranger

Ale brewed with pumpkin juice, Saigon cinnamon, habanero, aji and del arbol peppers

From a twelve ounce bottle, this brew is a golden in color with just a slight haze and modest head. The aroma is seriously cinnamon. It reminds me of heavily cinnamon'd apples, with brown sugar. The taste has a spice heat due to the peppers and cinnamon. Lots of flavor and intensity. Medium in body. Interesting, engaging, and flavorful.

So good. At first it’s like you’re drinking a slice of pumpkin pie. Then at the end of the sip the slightest bit of spice from the habanero kicks in. It’s very well rounded for the style. You might think no to habanero in your beer but it really does work in this one. Very crushable. I recommend it. Cheers!

Poured out of a 12 ounce can into One of my pint glasses, this beer pour is a clear, medium golden/amber color. Has a nice, fluffy looking white head that is about an inch thick when first poured. Head eventually settles to a thick film layer of foam with a nice cluster swirls, a thick ring lining the inside of the glass, and excellent lacing. Aromas of some bready malts with some pumpkin and spice notes. A very similar flavor profile, with some bready malts with some hints of caramel sweetness, pumpkin, and some spices. There’s the typical spice that you associate with pumpkin, clove, nut meg, cinnamon, etc. There’s also a definite chili pepper spice bite. Not really any specific or nuanced hop flavors here that my palate can pick up, just a general sense that there’s a bit of bettering hops here for some balance. A pretty good balance of flavors overall. Has a fairly crisp, somewhat smooth, medium body mouth feel with moderate carbonation. The chili pepper spice really lingers on my pallet nicely after each step.

My wife bought this one because she loves all Pumpkin Beer. She couldn't finish the six pack so it was left up to me. She didn't like the spicy character.

Poured nicely foam that went down quickly. Great mouth feel and the pumpkin beer spices come through well with the distinct flavor of hot peppers. Not for every one for sure.

Overall not a beer I would recommend, drink even irregularly, or buy more of. Pumpkin beer in itself is a gimmick. Not sure why New Belgium has to gimmick up a gimmick like a local craft brewery experiment.

Two twelve ounce cans contents released into a clear glass liter mug should provide enough for a review. It's the pours of a good ale; a moderate, but sustaining just-off-white head, bright copper-amber color and rather clean translucency. This one smells more like a real pumpkin pie than most pumpkin ales. There's some bready starch that manages to hold up to the obvious pumpkin spices. That follows through with the taste, which tastes so much like a pumpkin pie, except. Except, the word should be in capital letters for emphasis, this one brings some unforeseen heat. The inclusion of habanero peppers isn't really evident until this one slides through the mouth. Now, this becomes as much of a hot pepper beer as it is a pumpkin one. As peppers have the characteristic of building heat, by the finish, the peppers overwhelmed the pumpkin pie spices. This is much more for the tastes of those that like hot pepper beers, than those that like pumpkin spice beers. But, the heat of the peppers is not out of control and twenty-four ounces can be consumed comfortably. Yet, by the end, most, not all, of what hits the tongue is the habanero pepper. Overall, for anyone that enjoys hot pepper heat, this is a must have. Besides that, it's a really good pumpkin ale. There was a full and smooth body to it, as the lacing inside the glass bears witness. It would likely be an above average pumpkin beer, but the genius to spice it up with habanero puts this into the one of the best of its kind category.

L - copper with a decent amount of clarity and a light tan head that dissipates somewhat quickly leaving behind some lacing
S - pumpkin, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and slight smokiness from the habanero
T - follows the nose with pumpkin, allspice, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg all intermixed well with a nice kick of heat on the backend
F - medium bodied with moderate carbonation
O - a pretty interesting pumpkin ale that's not half bad either

Not enjoyable to me. OK for a split second, but the strong pepper kick ruins the aftertaste. If that's your thing you may like it.

Not much to celebrate when it comes to aroma (slightly sweet, maybe pumpkin?), but as someone who ADORES a spicy kick, this was a completely unexpected, wonderful surprise...albeit one that might not be what one signs up for when they pick up a Pumpkin beer. I get some people completely hating this- it is far and away the spiciest beer I've ever partaken of- but my Latino palate is thrilled. Love this beer.

Muted notes of Pumpkin Spice and Cinnamon in both smell and taste. Overpowering smell, taste, and feel of Habanero peppers. Burns the stomach and throat and leaves the mouth and back of the throat very dry. Quite astringent. Not very enjoyable.

When I saw this, I knew that I needed to grab a can because I would either love it or hate it!

Pours a light copper with a half finger of head. The nose has notes of autumnal spices and peppers. The flavor profile is a total cinnamon bomb. I'm not sure if the abrasive heat quality is from the ton of cinnamon added or the chilli peppers.

This beer is exactly what it purports to be: spicy and pumpkin

Color: Lovely golden orange with a thick, white head

Smell: Almost all roasted (not raw) pumpkin, very little spices, a tad of jalapeño. No breads or baked goods on the nose.

Taste: mild pumpkin, again roasted in flavor. Some cinnamon, no allspice, cardamom, ginger or nutmeg, but a touch of vanilla? Lots of heat, jalapeño and something a touch stronger. It's kind of exactly as it says it is.

Please note, this beer shouldn't be drunk ice cold, it needs to be cool but not cold or you will get very little flavor.
