Watered down lemon water, hardly and beer taste and maybe even a slight metal after taste.

Taste rating in words: it's adding to much ice to a drink on a hot day.

This has a best by date of August 26th on it.

Tartastic: Strawberry Lemon Ale pours a very cloudy light golden hue with a one fingered head and a decent lacing.

The aroma has a bit of lemon to it with some sour notes.

The flavor has a bit of lemon and he strawberry becomes more noticeable. The finish has a sour bitterness that is just not great.

Overall this was super disappointing because New Belgium generally makes excellent beer.

New Belgium Brewing "Tartastic Strawberry Lemon"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "ENJOY BY: 59756 26AUG18..."
$1.83 @ Cherry Hill Wine, Liquor & Beer (Wegmans), Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: Is this a new "Tartastic", or have I just missed it? It's poured a hazy pale gold - it's not even quite yellow, it's more whitish - beneath a fairly large head of white foam. As expected the head retention isn't that great, but OK, it is a sour beer. The aroma doesn't suggests a lot of tartness, nor is it very fruity, it mainly just gives off some sweetish grainy maltiness with a background, nondescript fruitiness. Ahh, I take that back, it is like strawberry, but more like strawberries and cream than fresh, ripe strawberries. OK, on to the flavor... there's more fruit there but not much, nor is it that tart. The graininess remains. I do get the strawberry but not really the lemon. This is "tartastic"? It might be "-astic", but it's not really tart. Ahhh, I am finding some lemon in the aftertaste now. Still, it's limited. It's not that bitter as you might expect; and it's medium bodied with a soft, moderate carbonation - had there been some acidity to it that would have probably been good so as not to enhance the acidity, but as it is it leaves it kind of dull. Overall it's not bad, it's an OK semi-fruity summer beer that's super easy to drink and set-up well for that at 4.2% abv although I'm not sure you'd be interested enough to drink more than two or three in a row. Disappointing overall. More of a fruity American blonde ale than anything else.

12oz bottle - thanks, Alberta's New Belgium import agent for getting this to us a whole month before its expiry date.

This beer pours a hazy, pale golden straw colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves a bit of splotchy painted lace around the glass as it slowly sinks out of sight.

It smells of bready and crackery cereal malt, a faint red berry fruitiness, ephemeral overripe lemon notes, and very subtle earthy, weedy, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, some mild strawberry ice cream, ethereal lemon cleanser, and some equally leafy, earthy, and musty hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly laid-back in its innocuous frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and generally smooth, with a wee airy creaminess arising as things warm up a tad out of the ol' basement frigo. It finishes off-dry, the generic sweetness carrying the lingering day.

Overall - yeah, this pretty much just comes across as a plain-ass blonde ale, and nothing like the proclaimed style, or at all indicative of the frooty adjuncts. I can totally understand the shitty scores already posted here, but only in a sense of what one might have been expecting going into this affair.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Slightly cloudy light golden pour with 1.5 fingers of fizzy white head. Falls fast... modest ring of lacing.

S: Mild funk and lemon. Not much else...

T/F: Light grains and wheat... mild lemon/citrus. Minimal funk... no strawberry that I can detect. Light bodied... fizzy carbonation. Mild citrus at the finish.

O: Pretty boring... some of the lemon comes through. The only strawberry I saw was on the label. Wouldn't have it again.

Poured into a New Belgium globe glass.

Look: Opaque dirty straw yellow body under a white head that recedes to a light film and collar. Little or no lacing.

Aroma: Only the faintest strawberry fruitiness mixed with a zestier lemon aroma.

Taste: Light, grainy, and slightly tart with watery lemon drops candy notions and barely anything in the way of strawberry. A watery flavor all around.

Mouthfeel: Light and dry.

Overall: A little disappointing, expected stronger flavors. Is not too tart though, so it is easy to drink.

The side of the label says: "ENJOY BY: 143172 30SEP18 180525091T1322"

Appearance: The beer has a milky golden body that looks a lot like key-lime pie. It has a short white head with good retention.

Aroma: It smells of souring fruit. There is also an interesting aroma which smells like the oil that collects on the outside of a hop bine.

Taste: That hop bine oil flavor comes out up front with a very strong and pronounced flavor. It drops off sharply with this very watered down lack of flavor.

Mouthfeel: There is a light nip of tartness like you would get from lemons sitting in a large jar of water. It is there and then it is gone. The beer is refreshing but it also feels very non-present.

Overall: This beer claims to be a "STRAWBERRY LEMON ALE" and there are no strawberries to be found. If you are looking for a beer as an alternative to lemon water then this would be a good choice. Otherwise it is quite a letdown. While the beer is quite refreshing it just doesn't have any flavor or presence on the palate. It's not a beer I'd likely recommend.

Tartastic Strawberry Lemon has a thin, off-white head, a milky, pale-yellow appearance, and some glass lacing. Aroma is of citrus fruit & yeasty bread. Taste is similar. Mouthfeel is high medium, and Tartastic Strawberry Lemon finishes crisp and dry.
