Haze gold appearance with a creamy white head. Great retention and lacing. Tons of floaties and chunks, though.
Aromas of honey, (age?) candied pineapple and mango, mandarin orange.
Loads of mango, pineapple, papaya, and orange upfront. Honey and white bready malt. A piney and orange peel bitterness bites into the finish, balancing out the honey sweetness and leaves a lingering sap on the palate.
Creamy body, well carbonated, smooth but sticky.

A solid IPA....fruity, and a nice balance of NE West Coast characteristics.

Bottom of can: 09/FEB 2020

Reviewed on 11/10/19

A dense raw honey appearance. Fluffy white foam, good cover after it spreads out with excellent lacing.

A very old school IPA aroma...
Dense pine, citrus bite, copper malty scent and grains all up in the nose.

Flavor's of pine tree sap, copper ale malt and grainy tones, citric acid and tangy tropical fruits. The amber and copper ale level of malted grains complexity moves it far from the NEipa style and revisits the classic West coast style flavor profile.
Feel and texture has a sharp bite, clean..then lush and smooth with dry edges. Nice.
A seriously tangy hop bite is pretty complex, but juicy enough to keep sipping.

A- Can pour into a becher with a thick and creamy white cap peaking at about a half inch high. Good head retention and thick webs of lace instantly with sheets down the glass below that.

S- Citrus hops are the biggest thing here with both the bittersweet and the fruity aspect of oranges and grapefruit. Hints of floral and pine hops as well as a bit of stone fruit. Mango comes to mind. Hints of cracker and bready grains.

T- Hops run the show again with a moderate strength. Oranges, mango, grapefruit and apricot first with floral, pine, herbal and dank hints. The malts bring hints of cereal, bread and cracker with a medium overall sweetness bringing on some of that candied orange feel.

MF- Silky and smooth light-medium body with a high level of carbonation. Creamy softness on the palate. Ends with a zesty citrus oil bitterness lingering on the taste buds.

Kind of down the middle IPA with citrus and hints of floral, pine and stone fruit from the hops with a medium sweetness and some malt influence. Clean and balanced.

This beer fell kind of flat for me. Didn't really get a lot of flavor out of it. Maybe some apricot and pineapple. Had a very thin mouthfeel too. Not a bad beer. More middle of the road.

Smell is fruity citrus hops with bready malt.
Taste is bitter fruity pine hops with bready malt support.
Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. The finish is dry and medium bitter.
Overall a bold and tasty IPA. Best by date is 02/02/2020.

Hop Avenger has a very thick, ivory head, an opaque, marmalade-orange appearance, & quite heavy glass lacing. The aroma is of fruit and pale malt. Taste is similar with strong bitterness. Mouthfeel is somewhat heavy, and Hop Avenger finishes mostly dry.

first time posting --just had my first Hop Avenger and wanted to weigh in --
I ENJOY these velvety resiny not overly fruity but still solid fruit notes 'rotationals' by Voodoo
Im from Treehouse brewing country in New Eng so many IPA's fall very short .
the standard fare from Voodoo generally disappoints -- Juicy Haze IPA , Imperial IPA , and the other regular IPA that's always on the shelf are not nearly as good as this Hop Avenger OR its predecessors Juicefer and Liquid Paradise … these rotationals are all 7.7 % and have been very similar which has been good IMHO because they deliver a great IPA that is complex , has that bite without the total bitter of too high IBU's . etc. I realize of course in reading all the "expert "opinions" :) that beer/ale taste is subjective --yet what I want to convey is that if you like NE IPA that has more going on then just the West Coast IPA (which I also enjoy) but truly dislike session IPA's (yuk I would rather drink reg cheap lager and have a great IPA when they present themselves)-then you will like this one ...Voodoo is kind of staying in a bit of a rut with these 7.7 rotationals but I LIKE what they are doing with these so hopefully they keep coming …. because stores are increasingly stocking boring IPA's and its getting more difficult to find the gems mixed in with the rubble of wannabees....

12 oz can, dated 1/26/20. Pours murky golden orange with a big rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is creamy biscuit malt with a little fruit.

The flavor is sweet creamy biscuit malts with a little fruit and some grassy hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little watery.

Overall, I wasn't a fan. Too biscuity and not enough fruit.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip. Cool can artwork

L: Hazed peach golden pour with thick fluffy white head. Great lacing.

S: Grainy... light tropical hops and a bit of pine.

T.F: Grainy/malty. Standard New Belgium IPA backbone which I really don't care for. The hops are light... some pineapple and tropicals... a bit of resin/pine. Some sweetness up front with moderate bitterness. Sticky on the tongue... medium bodied.

O: Not a fan of New Belgium's IPA's and this one is no exception. Looks good... cool can art... but way better IPA's out there.

Pours a hazy dark gold color. Scent is of hops and citrus/floral. Taste is an excellent combination of hops and pineapple. A light bodied alcohol soaked mouthfeel. The aftertaste goes from pine to fruit to pine to mellow. Great brew!

Pours a cloudy, hazy deep golden amber color with a 1 ½” tan foam, micro to medium bubbles, solid hold, 2 + minutes, mild tears and spotty lacing. Aromas of tropical fruit, Nugget, Mosaic, Ekuanot, Jester, Chinook, Citra, and Mandarina Bavaria hops. Taste is caramel malts, Munich malts, piney-green hop resin, and citrus pith. Mouthfeel is creamy, medium body, average carbonation, a dry finish with lingering pine and citrus pith. Overall flavor is balanced, juicy, well masked ABV, very flavorful hop bite with a moderate mouth coat of resin, the taste is fresh tropical fruit. This is a very crushable IPA.

7th review. 50,000 votes before me.
a) 4.2 creamy head over apricot hazed body and scatter lace and lasting.
s) 3.7 if you like to dip in the fruit juice puree, this taste/smell profile is for you.
t) 4 Wow it builds, staying fruit puree like apricot, peach, more than tropical this beer builds to flavor crescendo, and bitters out nicely.
f) Creamy, mid, power packed, tickles your tongue, kissy.
o) Power packed IPA. Try 24. We'll blind test with Jailai, Dales, Bronx, etc this weekend.

Best by 1/19/20. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy glowing burnt golden; nice creamy white head that falls slowly leaving great retention and sticky lacing. The aromas have a nice blend of citrus and tropical fruits. Malts are there. The flavors follow the nose. Some peach, mango, pineapple, orange and grapefruit leading the way. Mild hints of coconut. Some fresh grass. Some black pepper in the mix. This one is ultimately bittersweet. Finishes juicy. Malts do their thing. Subtle alcohol notes in the finish, but the alcohol is ultimately well hidden. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's smooth and easy to drink.

This is a pretty solid IPA. It's juicy and pretty close to being a "New England IPA". Solid hop aromas and flavors. It's ultimately bold. I like it. Well done.

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance -. The beer is served a very hazy orange amber color with a billowy off white head. The head has great retension slowly fading to leave a to of faomy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma is big of a grapefruit hop smell mixed with some aromas of tropical fruit of pineapple and tangerine. Along with these aromas comes smells of a herbal hop as well as a touch of earth. Overall the aroma is sweet, but dank.
Taste- The taste begins with a light tropical fruit flavor that is mixed with a big grapefruit hop taste. As the taste advances more tropical fruit comes to the tongue along with some of the herbal and earthy hop that was defected in the nose. Toward the very end a touch of grass joins the hop profile to leave one with a dank but juicy taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is thicker and chewier with a carbonation level that is average. For the mix of light tropical sweetness with the nice dank hop the feel is good and makes for a nice easy and flavorfully dank sipper.
Overall - This is a very enjoyable brew overall. Dank and lightly sweet. Dangerously easy to drink at 7.7 %.

12 oz. can - Freshness date of 12 Jan 2020 stamped on the bottom:

Pours hazy (not in a NE way) golden. A thin white head leaves some rings of lacing.

The smell is of strong tropical notes - pineapple, guava, mango, some papaya. Lightly caramelized bread and a dash of black pepper come through. Robust and inviting.

The taste is of hops galore, but not overly bitter. Bitterness comes through in a refreshing way. Juicy fresh tropical fruits supported by caramel and bread/biscuit. Complex. Alcohol comes through and covers some of the potential flavor, though plenty of great flavor still comes through. Some black pepper in the long finish.

It is smooth despite noticeable alcohol and assertive bitterness. Juicy, somewhat chewy medium-to-full body.

A great modern American IPA Strong hop notes with just enough malt (which gives a touch of caramel) to keep it together and smooth. Pleasant aftertaste. I really like this one!

Pours a hazed gold with 2 fingers of cream colored head. Very good lacing & head retention

S: Pine, grassyness, cattyness

T: Follows the nose, dry, a little grapefruit up front. Pretty dry, woody, piney & a little pomelo as this warms. Finishes dry with a little dryness & woody hop

MF: Medium body, firm carbonation, decent balance

Drinks easy enough, not a bad West Coast IPA

12 ounce can into signature globe glass; canned on 9/13/2019, best before 1/19/2020. Pours very hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, green peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, green peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, green peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly crisp/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mild increasing warmth of alcohol for 7.7%. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth, easy, and fairly crisp to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish. Nicely soft and not overly aggressive. Awesome Nugget, Mosaic, Ekuanot, Jester, Chinook, Citra, Mandarina Bavaria profile. Extremely vibrant, dank, earthy, and fairly juicy hop complexity; with a nice clean bready Munich malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and impressive style example as expected. Another great addition to the series.

Six pack of cans purchased at Total Wine in Lynnwood, Washington.
12 JAN 2020 on the bottom. Poured in to a pint glass.

Look- Slightly hazy golden yellow color. Modest off-white head with decent retention, spotty lacing. light carbonation streams as it sits.

Smell- Pineapple and earthy white pepper for the most part. crackery malt, some light generic citrus and dank.

Taste- Follows the nose for the most part. The white pepper spice is much more noticeable.

Feel- Medium bodied, a lot of carbonation on the tongue. Fairly well balanced though.

O- New Belgium missed the mark here. A seasonal I'll pass on from now on.
