Nitro Cold Brew Cream AleNitro Cold Brew Cream Ale
Notes: A smooth, creamy, and refreshing coffee beer? Thanks to our friends at High Brew Coffee, that's exactly what this beer is. We infused a cream ale with oats and High Brew's cold brew for a velvety mouthfeel and refreshing finish that will have you wanting more! Infused with nitrogen, so pour hard!

Nitro, my arse! Looks like a brown ale with a lady finger firecrackers worth of tan head. Was hoping to be smacked over the head with coffee scents, but it's very mild on the nose. Smells like your run of the mill beer, really. This is a brew that thrives on the tongue, baby! It's crammed fulla creamy textured cold brew that just gets deeper and more complex as you sip. The coffee they used in this must be fantastic on it's own. Pleasant nutty aftertaste. A little watery, but this is a 5% ABV cream ale, not some imperial stout monster, so that's to be expected. I wish it were socially acceptable to drink this instead of coffee in the morning.

Best by 3/29/20. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours a brown with auburn and mahogany hues; creamy light khaki head that falls leaving nice retention and sticky lacing. The aromas have a nice amount of coffee along with mild hints of peanut butter. Some vanilla, cocoa and caramel. Malts are there. The flavors basically follow the nose. The coffee shines without completely dominating. More hints of vanilla. Some chocolate coming through. Low bitterness. Moderate sweetness. Malts do their thing. Alcohol goes completely unnoticed. Mouthfeel is light with low carbonation. It's more or less what you would expect from a nitro beer. It's smooth and very easy to drink.

This is a solid coffee brew. It drinks like a light beer, but it's still flavorful. It might not be "mind blowing", but they deliver exactly what you would expect. Not bad at all.

Pours a murky chestnut color with tawny highlights. The rumored "nitro" manifests in little more than a thin film of khaki suds. Mild aroma smells of coffee with notes of beer.

The taste features an authentic dose of roasted coffee beans up front, succeeded by an even bigger blast of latte and espresso toward the middle and back. Bitterness has more of an astringent, roasted character than hop bitterness per se. There's also a slightly vegetal quality to the finish, which may just be a misapprehension due to the unusual pairing of coffee with a cream ale. Light body and mild carbonation make for a drinkable mouthfeel that could use a bit more texture at the very least.

While I was mildly skeptical how this concept would turn out in practice, the robust coffee presence definitely gives this brew some legs, even if the nitro moniker strikes me as more of a marketing ploy than anything. As an out-of-the-box session beer, this serves quite admirably.

Appearance: Pours a darkened amber. Nearly opaque but has some red clarity to it. Zero head with traces of a light tan creamy head that never existed. SRM of 22-23. (3.50)

Aroma: Light aromas of freshly brewed light roast coffee. Fresh coffee beans. Not too roasty or dark. Fresh coffee right out of the pot. The coffee is balanced. Not too roasty nor sweet. (3.50)

Flavor: Flavors of coffee. Light cocoa and nutty notes within the coffee. Flavors of a house roast. It's smooth, but flavorful. Finishes clean and slightly creamy on the end from the oats. (3.50)

Feel: Watery initially, but then you get some creamy fullness from the oats. Zero carbonation though. Not sure what the nitro is doing here. Not making it smooth necessarily. You could dissolve oatmeal in water and not tell the difference. The oats are making it creamy It's more oat malt infused creaminess, rather than "nitro". (3.25-4.25-Good or bad?)

Overall: I agree with other reviews that this isn't a great beer. It's maybe not as bad as some of the reviews. It has a nice House Blend coffee roast flavor and is smooth. But overall, lacks any complexity and feels sort of flat. The nitro is a non-starter here. Admittedly, I'd rather drink a Guinness. (Final Rating: 3.43)

Pours a nice clear brown with the creamy light tan head you would expect from a nitro infused beer. The aroma has a slight note of caramel, with a touch of coffee. Slightly creamy mouthfeel, with very slight carbonation. There's a nice hint of cold brewed coffee, with a touch of fruity notes from the coffee. Overall, a nice solid twist on a blonde ale.

12 oz can split with my wife. For a nitro beer this looks terrible. Very little head. No cascading bubbles. And it's a dirty light brown color. Not very appealing. Aroma is cream ale with coffee. Flavor is similar but kind of watery with maybe a sour twinge. Mouthfeel is also watery, even for a nitro beer. Overall pretty disappointing.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip. Hard pour.

L: Dark brown pour.. nearly black with a finger of creamy white head. Long lasting, but thin for a nitro.

S: Coffee and grains.

T.F: Strong espresso presence. Semi-sweet with some light roast. Earthy.. some caramel. Light bodied... the least creamy nitro beer I've ever had. More coffee at the finish.

O: They hit on the coffee part... but the nitro attempt was a fail, and this didn't do a whole lot for me. Drinks like a brown ale with coffee. Not one I'd re-visit.

Poured from a can. Turns dark brown in color with a foamy tan head and some lacing. Smells of lactose, malt and coffee beans. Taste follows the smell with the usual smooth nitro mouth feel. Haven't been a big nitro fan but I like this beer.

Poured from the 12oz can into a Mason Jar, while it didn’t show the usual beautiful rolling boil of a Nitro brew it had a great head and lasting lace. Coming in on the mild side of the style for both a Nitro and a Cold Brew Coffee Cream Ale I would still say I’m a fan, this is an awesome way to enjoy a starter Nitro ( some can taste flat to a new taster ) and a flavor infused Cream Ale....in this case Cold Brewed Coffee...well done and very drinkable!

12 oz can with a 10 May 2020 BB date stamp on the bottom, served in a lager glass on New Years Eve day 2019.
There's no obvious sign of nitro in the pour except that a vigorous pie does raise a moderate size, creamy and durable beige head.
Aroma. Good but ambiguous regarding taste quality.
It delivers on the flavor with fine coffee flavor dominating, although the base cream ale is also evident. Clean for style with lasting but gentle coffee aftertaste.
Overall. Bold for style and definitely recommended for fans of coffee beers.

Drinking this from a can poured hard and cold in to a pint glass.
Looks dark brown. Head subsided quickly.
Smells malty and coffee
Tastes like coffee.
Mouth feel is lightly creamy, no real active carbonation and no bubbly nitro bubbles.
Overall, the coffee part good. Nitro? Nope! And that was a huge disappointment
One of the flattest beers I have ever had.
