12oz can with an enjoy by date of 22 Nov 2020. Sample from the brewery. "India Pale Ale with mango flavors & spice." 6.7% ABV. 30 IBU.

Pale yellow, cloudy, and semi-opaque with a thick soapy white head that clings to the glass. Nose is packed with ripe mango. Soft, oaty, mouthfeel with a crisp bite beneath. Super juicy and fruity with more mango, sweet guava, some pineapple, pear, melon, and strawberry. Rind bitterness. Getting suggestions of vanilla toward the finish, too. Dry and slightly doughy finish.

I'm not sure what this IPA has to do with 1985, but it's pretty dope...if you like mangoes in your face, as if.

Poured from a 12 oz can 5/16/20 best by 9/13/2020

Pours a hazy golden orange. Head is foamy and has excellent lacing and retention.

Everything is a little bit subdued in the smell, which was a little disappointing, but the sweetness is there in the form of mango, guava, and maybe some pineapple.

Fortunately, the flavors are stronger in the taste, but still a bit less powerful than I would like. Lots of everything mentioned above, but caramel malts and hops present themselves more in the taste. Decently balanced given the intent of the beer, but I might have liked just a bit more hop flavor. Grass, spices, and hops do come in at the end for a decently dry finish, which is nice considering how sweet it is up front.

Feel is good. Not too heavy, not too light, powerful carbonation.

Overall, pretty good and worth trying if you’re a fan of NE style IPAs.

12oz can poured into a Sam Adams shaped pint glass.

A: Soft, opaque and hazy lemonade-colored yellow with a fluffy white head.

S: MANGO. Seriously; huge tropical mango character with underlying citrus, orange; tangerine; grapefruit; lots of stone fruit.

T: Again, mango steals the show, with lots of apricot and stone fruit backing it up, blood orange too. Underlying notes of pink grapefruit, tropical and citrus fruit cocktail.

MF: Light, fluffy.

O: A very good IPA with excellent tropical mango vibes, very pleasant.

Not terrible. Pours like a typical hazy. Lots of pineapple on the nose and palate. But totally missing the IPA bite and happiness.

Had yet another (3rd) can of this last night for the opening of softball season. Deep triple off the wall, I'm sore.
So this is interesting, in that the can says it has spices and mango in it. I don't think it tastes that way (for the better) other than a bit of mango that i thought was hop derivative, not juice.

Anyhoo, pours cloudy and yellow, 2/5" white head. The aroma is hoppy, has the mild undercurrent of citra when the big craft boys use it in a more financially responsible way when charging $1.30 per beer versus the little guys who dump a ton of it and charge $4-6 per serving.

I think taste is where the beer excels. There is this strawberry like note that I have to attribute to the vague "spices" reference on the can. Its like what the luponic distortion series kind of describes, but comes up short on. I think its a bit more bitter than 30ibu, the Simcoe hop gives it a nice middle of the road bitterness. Good soft flaked body. Just doesn't have the sweetness I associate with fruit juice added, so that is nice mouthfeel wise.

This is a pretty good beer at a great price.

12oz can. Poured out a slightly cloudy, golden yellow color with a large, white head of foam. It smelled of mango, citrus and caramel. Sweet mango taste with caramel and a mild bitterness.

12oz can with some truly hideous artwork. Bottom just says "15 NOV 2020" - back from the future, I guess

Beautiful, extremely hazy piss-yellow with a golden accent. Smells more like fruit than beer; papaya, pineapple, piña colada. Drinks okay, at first. All the aformentioned scent translates to the flavor but is accompanied by harsh grain alcohol and bitter rust water

"With mango ***flavor*** and 'spice'" (my emphasis added). Do they mean gas station Spice? What the hell *is* mango flavor? Whatever operation paperclip experiment that lead to this beer's creation.. it probably wasn't worth it

Freshness date of 29 Nov 2020 stamped on 6-pack box:

Pours hazed yellow with a thin lasting white creamy head. Some lacing sticks, especially as it progresses.

The smell is strong of mangoes. Some general spicing mixes in.

The taste is of mangoes with bread and black pepper spicing in the finish.

It is juicy and smooth.

A hazy NE style IPA. Juicy. Sweetness reigns in the touch of bitterness. Strong mango character.

From a 12oz can:

Appearance: Cloudy yellow, big head.

Smell: Canned pineapples.

Taste: Cafeteria fruit cocktail--pineapple, pear, syrup, melon, mango. Very fruity and not too cloyingly sweet.

Overall: It's very fruity and tastes fine, just reminds me way too much of canned fruit cocktail from school lunch. So I suppose that's like 1985, since I would have been eating school lunch fruit cocktail then.

12 oz can with a 1 November 2020 BB date stamp on the bottom of the can.
Pours with a tall, foamy white head over a hazy golden body. As the head suggests, this has a relatively high carbonation level but it's suitable for the beer.
The aroma and, more so, the flavor suggest pineapple as least as much as mango (the latter actually part of the recipe). Nice and juicy with less bitterness than average for the style. Good balance and harmony.

Appearance: Pours a completely cloudy, pale lemon color with a rather strong crisp white head that lasts. SRM of 5-6. (4.00)

Aroma: Nice aromas of light mango soaked with grapefruit juice and sweet lemon.

Flavor: Strong mango flavor, but light enough. Then a grapefruit and slight herbs. There is zero pineapple here which is quite shocking, and that I've come to expect. But it is not here. Finishes light and clean with a mango flavor. Leans dry. (4.25)

Feel: Lighter-bodied. Good carbonation. Clean on the palate.

Compared to Lagunitas' Little Sumpin' Hazy 7/19/20: Pours a much lighter and hazier color. More mango and grapefruit on the aroma and flavor. Less sweet orange/pineapple resin. Much lighter, dryer, and cleaner overall.

Overall: This beer, as others have mentioned, is quite impressive. Nice mango flavors. But what is remarkable here is the lack of pineapple flavor that I have come to expect in IPAs. There is nearly no pineapple flavor here which allows the mango and grapefruit flavors to come forth. Gives it a unique and refreshing twist. It's also light, clean, and dry. Looks good, tastes good, and feels good. This beer is worth the retro. (Final Rating: 4.02)
