A: Hazy copper with an appealing white head, moderate retention and lacing

S: Malt driven. Light candy notes, a little citrus. Pretty understated in the nose overall.

T: Lively lemon and herbal notes, and tasty bready malt. Just a hint of the brett drying things out in the finish.

M: Medium body, good malt presence but keeps a very sessionable weight. Dry on the finish and slightly astringent.

O: Nice beer in an unusual style. Easy to drink and an interesting restrained use of brett.

A: pretty hazy, lazy orange hue. head is thick and white. retention and lacing are good. pretty farm-y looking brew.

S: a little bit of barny bretty funk starts off the aroma. grapefruit juice. the grain is there, but has a decent amount of barn-ness tied in with it.

T: grapefruits and pears. a little bit of barny must, but just for a moment and has a slightly drying affect. there is a bready pils flavor too behind the scenes almost. finish is pretty clean and also dry.

M: moderate amount of fizz with a touch of tart. very medium body.

D: drinks a lot easier than the ABV would suggest. almost a little too light. i like a bit more meat on my BDG's. otherwise, good flavor and the touch of brett on the nose is nice.

Funkytown! I smell Brett in this beer, that fresh kind of horse blanket barnyard aroma that I love so much. No hops on the nose at all, just a mix of funk and sweet maltose.

The aesthetics of this beer are gorgeous! It's a solid orange in color, perfectly clear with a crisp white head that leaves medium to thick lacing. Just beautiful.

Light citrus notes with a bit of funk thrown in for good measure. I really don't get much hops other than the light citrus. The malt comes through as toasted bread, it's not sweet at all like the aroma kind of suggests. A nice surprise!

The beer is light in body and carbonation, and finishes dry.. incredibly drinkable for what it is. Overall I love this beer, excellent effort by New Belgium to do something that isn't quite mainstream.

Pours a fairly clear golden orange color with a cream colored head that falls slow with good lace.

Aroma is pale malt with good dose of fruits pear, green apples mingled with light spice. Some light earthy yeast mingled in with the spice.

Taste is light malt good fruit notes lightly tart the brett notes that are suppose to be here are very light. Kind of expecting little more malty notes and more funk.

Mouthfeel is light side of medium with good average carbonation. Feel is pretty much to style and enjoyable.

Overall maybe if I hadn't checked the New Belgium web site would of thought more of this one, sadly saw Brett and was expecting sour goodness. Overall Brett just to light not funky or tart enough. So overall not great Biere de Garde or a great Brett brew.

A: Hazy orange color with a one finger cream colored head and nice lacing down the glass.

S: The smell is pretty faint, but I pick up some musty yeast and some floral and peach hints.

T: Very smooth and east drinking. Light pale malt, coriander and a slight hint of hops before a drawn out finish full of earthy yeast, a hint of funk and some bread. The finish was a bit much for me and the yeast took the flavor over a bit too much. A nice beer but probably not one I'll revisit.

On tap at World of Beer at North Hills 2/16/12.

Pours a dark brownish orange with a soft white head that has good retention. The nose offers little but some faint toasty malt. The flavor is toasty up front followed by some peppery spice and has a yeasty, faint baked apple-like finish. The mouthfeel is crisp and medium bodied though a little dry.

This is a little underwhelming overall. The flavor is enjoyable but not overly impressive. I probably won't have this again.

A - Poured about a 1 finger head in my pint glass. Off white in color. Body is barely hazy and golden wheat in color. Some moderate lacing.

S - It's definitely a malty background. Some biscuit and an every faint hint of sour and funk - like grapefruit rind.

T - Not too complex. Malty and some faint sour again. Weak hops on the back the provide a nice little bitterness. Just the slightest funk.

M - Fairly light, but it matches the body and is really pretty good. Maybe the best quality of this beer. Nothing crazy on the carbonation either.

O - Pretty good. One of those beers that would go nicely with all 4 seasons. Simple but well balanced and easy to drink.

Poured into a plastic hotel cup. Dark piss color – slightly hazy (I do not mean this to be a bad thing, but that is what it reminded me of). Strong carbonation. Sweet up front, aftertaste is like vodka. Do not serve too cold. I remember it being more complex and enjoyable the last time I drank it. I also do not remember it having a vodka aftertaste. Perhaps I should blame the cup. Regardless, it is an interesting brew.

I’ll have another.
