A - A clear light copper with a sturdy head.
S - Hoppy citrus and pine
T - Malty tones with carmel with citrus and pine similar to the smell. Nice balance
M - Medium body and a smooth finish
O - A middle of the road IPA thats not a bad thing its just not a top tier.

Got this in a mixed six from Cost Plus. I've had it before and did not like it, however it's the only thing from NB's Explorer series I've really shied away from so thought I'd give it another go.

Poured from the classic 120z New Belgium collared brown bottle into a goblet, orange gold, with a 3/4 head that sank pretty quickly, and busy looking effervescence. Actually smells quite nice, big tangerine aroma, yeast and dried apricot. On the first sip that tangerine/orange flavor is really prevalent, and beer is quite bitter on the back end. A few more and the bitterness subsides a bit, but that citrus flavor continues to stand out - it's quite nice. Mouthfeel is on the lighter end of medium, and the carbonation is fairly active.

I should mention that it isn't quite cold as Cost Plus doesn't refrigerate most of their stuff, so I don't know how much putting a good chill on this would change the experience, but overall I'm pleasantly surprised. This is a decent IPA, and would be well-suited for a summer BBQ or some other outdoorsiness. The 6.5 ABV is nice too - seems like you could knock a few of these back without going cross-eyed.

NB did some good things with this beer, and I'm glad I revisited. I imagine I'll probably pick this up again when summer rolls around.
