Can poured into a New Belgium Brewing Co tulip glass

A: Pours faintly hazy golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.

S: Tropical and stone fruit, soft Nelson white grape and gooseberry, citrus, slightly grassy, crackery malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness .

T: Citrus, ripe orange, lemon, and grapefruit, white grape, tropical and stone fruit, gooseberry, passion fruit, and apricot, grassy herbal notes, crackery biscuity malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, ever so slightly creamy.

O: Flavor up front is nice, but it thins out in an odd way towards the finish, like a session IPA, even though this is an 8% DIPA. What is there is nice, but I wish that given the name there were some experimental hops thrown in, or even more than just 1 new hop I haven't seen much of (lotus).

12oz can dated 2022-01-09. Served in a footed pilsner.

Slightly hazy, pale yellow, small head. Smell is lemon and hops / old hay.

Taste is old hops. Lots of lemon rind.

Mouthfeel is very dry. Overall, it's not bad, but probably past its prime.

New Belgium Brewing Co. "Voodoo Ranger Future Hop IPA"
12 fl. oz. can coded "06 MAR 2022 0804 211007011T 28175"

Notes via stream of consciousness: It seems there's a new Voodoo Ranger IPA out every month! This one is a mostly clear golden beneath a good-sized head of bright white foam. The aroma is mild but mainly "dank" and resionous with secondary notes of passionfruit and berries. It's interesting but kind of disappointing in that it has the hop intensity of a pale ale. I'm not getting a lot of malt but it seems a little more than just basic 2-row. There might be some wheat to it, or maybe even some honey malt. The taste is fuller with more malt to it, and a twist on the hops as it's more fruity than it is dank. It's got some orange, berries, passionfruit, melon, white grape, and a "dank", herbal and resinous character. It's a little honeyish, or even vanilla-like. A median bitterness balances it and it finishes dry with some resinous and herbal character lingering. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp. All in all it's a little bit of a curious beer with an interesting "dank" and fruity character that's intriguing. How strong is this? 8%! Jeebus, I didn't expect that! I though it was around 6.5% or so. There goes my theory on it's possibly being a good summer beer right out the window. I'm going to guess that this will not garner a lot of attention because it's not as bold or bright as so many other IPAs on the market but it is somewhat unique and well worth taking a look at.

16 Jan 2022 dated 12 oz can.

Pours lighter and with better then a moderate haze level. Lasting fluffy cap and leaving pleasing levels of fine froth and lacing.

Mild sniff of tangerines

Easy drinking, fairly nondescript IPA, a bit of orange and general citric and resiny hop goodness.

Decent but not overly exciting kinda IPA.

Drank straight from the can and what more can i say but wow. Never been disappointed by VR but this one is something else i wouldn't be surprised if future hops was just as juicy if not more than juicy haze by the same company didn't give it a full 5 across the board because it could of been a bit more bitter would recommend to and juicy ipa lovers

Poured from a can. Straw in color, slightly hazy with a foamy white head and good lacing. Smells of fruit, floral and a little pine. Flavors of grape, citrus, floral and malt. Flavors work well for me. Enjoyable.

12 oz. can - Best by 06 March 2022:

Pours slightly hazy light yellow with a thin white head. A bit of lacing sticks.
'
The smell is of white grape, crackers, a subtle hint of musty pine/wood.

The taste is of white grape, some sharp perfume, hint of wood. Cracker base. Alcohol relatively well-covered.

A bit too carbonated, slightly watery in the middle for the style But, it's pretty smooth and holds together and the hops linger a bit.

A decent-to-good Imperial IPA. Drinkable, for sure. I prefer the orginal VDR Imp IPA. But, this works fine enough. Could be more bold for an Imperial version of an American IPA.

Smell of pine, citrus
Golden amber-tinged color

Taste of citrus, pine, some bitterness finish, hides alcohol well
Overall a good IPA. Not overly bitter, fairly easy drinking, seems well-made.

Clear light yellow color with a foamy white head. Good retention.
Pineapple, lemon, straw, a touch of green apple and white grape, and clean, crisp, white crackery malt. A touch of bitterness but it does not linger at all. Very mild bitterness. Finishes clean, crisp, and dry. No alcohol is perceptible, even at warmer temps.
Medium-light body, well carbonated, very crisp and clean.

A solid DIPA. I wish the hops popped a bit more, but drinkability is superb.

Salad yet unexciting..... Generally I love the special brews his old school Brewer pushes out.... This one falls a bit flat for me, although it is still of high quality and I would recommend to a friend

2021 Voodoo Ranger Limited Release - 6 pack
12 oz. can dated 211018 (10/18/21) - 8% ABV / 40 IBU
Brewed and canned in Fort Collins, CO or Asheville, NC
Poured into a Bell's branded pub pint glass

Look - Pours a pretty thick and fluffy, slightly off-white head that leaves lacing. Slightly cloudy, pale yellow appearance with a fair amount of streaming bubbles.
Smell - The scent of pineapple is very dominant, so it's hard to pick up anything else. Maybe some berry and grape as well.
Taste - The taste has a very strong wine characteristic, which I assume is from the Lotus and Nelson Sauvin hops. Also getting the dank strawberry flavor of the Strata hops. A lot of complex flavors going on. Very minimal bitterness and no alcohol taste.
Feel - Thin bodied with a crisp mouthfeel and finishes somewhat dry.
Overall - A very complex brew with unique and interesting hop flavors, which makes this easy and refreshing to drink.

As far as IPAs go i enjoyed this a lot, most from my experience are pungent and overly fruity/sweet, but this one was toned back a bit and refreshing. Probably more for malt heads looking for a change of pace rather than an ipa lover.

Said it before, really don't get the Voodoo Ranger branding and all these offers are near carbon copies of the original in a diminishing way. Did not find this one to offer much different than other VR's and this one eve seemed a step back.

Look is clear and ipa-ish. Smells like pine tree and danks. Taste has a nice hit of hop flavor (tropical fruit, danks, grass), appropriately bitter with a nice bite. Maybe just a little too boozy

Solid

For being a mass market IPA, it's great. It's got hoppy with a hint of guava and smooth. What let's it down is the mouth feel. It's too foamy. The moment it hits your tongue it's just a mouth full of foam. Other than that it's decent.

12 ounce can poured into a 16 ounce glass. Four+ finger fluffy white, rapidly diminishing head over a clear light golden body.

S: slightly sour aroma with a cracker background.

T: Bitter hops out front followed by slightly tart aftertaste. I expected better from the Voodoo Ranger line.

F: Tingling carbonation across the tongue with a little alcohol burn at the back.

O: New Belgium is usually better than this. Not the best IPA by a Longshot. Not worth repeating.

Future Hop has a thick, spongy head, a clear, bubbly, straw-gold appearance, and lots of lacing. The aroma is of slightly fruity, white bread crust. The taste is of fruit, white bread, and moderately-strong bitterness. Future Hop has a high-medium body and a mostly-dry finish.

Lightly hazed gold appearance with a large white head and very good lacing. Aroma hit the nose as soon as the can was opened, with layers of tropical fruit, berries and even a little licorice trailing behind. Tropical fruits still making an impression on the tastebuds as citrus flavors intrude. Dank, well carbonated, medium bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyed this one.

Poured into a tall clear pint glass. Appearance is a clear straw color with more than a finger's worth of thick creamy white head. Good lacing and retention.

Aroma: stone fruit, white grapes, gooseberries, cracker malt, biscuit malt, caramel malt, bread, pineapple, peach, honey, melon.

Taste: Really tasting the tropical fruits, the white grapes, and spicy hops which taste piney. Also tasting some grapefruit. Almost exactly like the aroma. Body is medium-light.

Color is hazy light gold with a lemony, grapefruit aroma. Also getting some lemon candy and white bread. Taste is hoppy, bitter, with lemon and grapefruit peel. Medium mouthfeel and finishes dry. Not detecting any of the 8%. Getting a little malt sweetness in the middle and on the finish. Not my favorite of the series, but this takes on a more west coast type character with a touch more sweetness.

Appearance: Pours a clear, light golden color with a bright white head. SRM of 7. (3.75)

Aroma: Moderate aromas of white grapefruit, pineapple, white grape with some orchardfruit and Savon Blanc. Lots of white fruit, but juicy.

Flavor: Strong flavors of white grapefruit citrus, sweet white grape, and orchardfruit. Mostly pear, white grape, white grapefruit, and a malty finish. Alcohol is strong and detectable.

Feel: Medium to heavier bodied. Moderate carbonation.

Compared to VoodooRanger V2K IPA 12/3/21: Pours a darker and clearer color. Milder aromas. More white citrus grapefruit and less red fruit punch, papaya, and red fruit.

Compared to New Belgium Agent 77 IPA 2/4/22: Pours an identical color. Similar aromas. More orange, orchardfruit, and gooseberry. Less citrus and coconut. Stronger and more malty, but similar flavors.

Overall: A nice showcase of Nelson Sauvin hops here with white grapefruit, grape, orcharfruit and gooseberry. Strong malts and higher alcohol make it drink thick and strong.
