Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampant's finish is bone-dry.

Poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a coppery hazy semi-translucent color with a finger's worth of quickly dissipating white foamy head that barely left any lace.
The aroma had some spritzy sweet onion dankiness over top of some clean sweet biscuits/breadiness. Light white pepper glosses the ends with a little bit of freshly cut grass.
The flavor was a fairly nice balance of the sweet onion to the white pepper and freshly cut grass. Ample amount of the biscuit/bready malts slide in for a further balance. Nice danky hopped aftertaste allowing the malts to escape through smoothly.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with that in between glance of sessionable to sipping quality. I want to pound this, but also am finding the onion dankiness to be invasive enough to cause me to want to sip the more I feel this beer out. Carbonation felt fine and proper with the ABV coinciding with the make up of the beer pretty nice.
Overall, I keep hearing people picking on New Belgium these days, me, well, I'm glad they're in Vermont just goes to show that they brew a good beer and keep us locals on our toes.

This is nice and hoppy.....much more so than Fat Tire. You will like this if you are a hop head.

Pours cloudy yellow with thin fading head. Belgium + IPA with peachy herbal tones and very deep heavy hops. Gets better with each sip. Pares well with spicy foods.
