July 7th, 2015 - New Belgium's French Amaris is a curious brew. To the eye it looks a lot like a blond ale, thick and heavy with shaving cream style foam up top. The nose features some mild tangerine and a lemon freshness, as does the taste. But the flavor ropes in some subtler marshmallow sweetness as well. Fluffy and nice, it's a soft and gently fruity beer with a whipped citrus note to clear the palate.

From the bottle, it pours amber with a nice, fluffy off-white head, which lasts a bit. Lacing as the beer is enjoyed. The nose detects some floral hops. The mouth enjoys the welll balanced flavor. Yum!

From tasting notes. L: hazy gold, 1” foam cap, persistent, lacy. S: Fruity nose, grassy hops, some pepper, spice. T: Very yeasty, moderate malt backbone, fruit, pepper, herbal hop accent on the finish, finishes dry. F: medium carbonation, medium body O: A dry, refreshing American IPA

This is an American Pale Ale brewed with French Aramis Hops as part of their Hop Kitchen series. It begins in a frothy pour, a massive head that eventually settles into a cloudy amber color. The head is gummy and leaves a clotty resin along the glass rim. There is a pleasant floral nose and the palate is tickled with bits of honey, herbs and hops. Mildy sweet without being cloyingly so. The body is crisp, airy and refreshing. A decent beer that makes for a refreshing summer quaff. Would I drink more than two at a single sitting? Probably not, but it is tangy, unique and worth a taste.
