A: Rich opaque golden copper orange, faintly luminescent. Dense with particulate. Good head retention, no lacing to speak of.

S: Somewhat syrupy sweet smell, an expect-able amount of nutmeg and cinnamon scents but not of any remarkable quality. Mild smell of pumpkin juice. Label advertised as brewed with pumpkin juice rather than with whole pumpkin, so not surprisingly there is nothing complex or exciting here with regards to pumpkin smell, or regards to the cranberry smell. It smells as if Ocean Spray made a watery cranberry/pumpkin juice cocktail.

T: The ocean spray analogy is perfect here, mixed in with a tired and tasteless base. Brewing with fruits should bring out the complex tastes of the fruit and pair it with some exciting malt and grain flavors. "Pumpkick" does not accomplish this. Most notably, there is no "kick" to be found.

M: Shallow, watery. Rolls around the mouth without soaking in.

O: Very disappointing. Pairing pumpkin with cranberry is a fantastic idea and I'd love to see New Belgium do it right. This beer might pair well with a rich Thanksgiving dinner but on its own the shortcomings are too overwhelming to recommend.

I know lots of folks aren't too big on Pumpkin Ales but my goodness you must try this beer. I drank it on tap at my local Pluckers Sports Bar and didn't even drink it slow enough to recall what it looked like.

A piece of liquid pumpkin pie but BETTER.

12oz bottle dated 12-JAN-14 poured into my Sierra Nevada balloon glass
*Notes from 11/08/13

A: Dark orangish amber body with some pretty fine clarity considering the adjunct ingredients. Poorly sustaining brim of off-white froth with only some meager streaks and dots of stick.

S: Smells of pumpkin bread with holiday spices and a tart cranberry note that carries on into some light yeasty character. Nice aroma with the pumpkin and cranberry evident.

T: Tart cranberry juice and bready malts lead over Pumpkin fruit mixed with some cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Nice tart punch from the cranberry with some earthy minerals on the finish. There is a low perceived bitterness to the beer and the alcohol is completely disguised. Not bad. Spices are kind of washed out by the cranberry. Does have some nice refreshing pumpkin flavor to it.

M: Lighter body with a bit of a thin watery texture. There is some definite drying and light spritzy carbonation to counter however. Creamy overall with a finish that falls a touch watery with a light tart pucker that hits the palate.

D: Nice little holiday offering. Not something that I would drink on the reg but I do like that the key ingredients are noticeable without being overly so. All in all the pumpkin cranberry thing works.

Copper/orange with lots of bubbles rising. Half finger of head that actually stays around. Nice bit of lacing down the glass. Has a nice aroma with the cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice out front. These come out in the flavor on the back end. I don't think i would have guessed cranberry and lemon grass in the flavor but the beer does have a pleasant mild tartness to it. A little sticky up front and dry on the finish, carbonation is mild on the palate and the body is medium. Reminds me of the Fall and Halloween a little bit, so mission accomplished. Very mild and chuggable, overall.

Orange with a one finger off white head with decent retention and lacing. the aroma has cranberry juice, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and something I couldn't pick out until I looked at the bottle - lemongrass. I had no idea all this was in the beer when I picked up the single bottle, or I would have left it on the shelf.

I can taste the cranberry juice, lemon grass, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and pumpkin, as mentioned on the bottle. Wow, this is really bad. The only thing going for this beer is the fact that it is also somewhat bland. Not a good combination of flavors. A regular pumpkin beer with no cranberry juice or lemongrass would have been a lot better.

Light bodied and over carbonated. Not worth seeking out.

Another disappointing pumpkin beer from a brewer I really like. Nose is authentic, but mild pumpkin, and very little pumpkin spice. Taste follows. Not impressed.

"Best by 2/26/17"; drank 10/17/16 @ the Yarchives.

Semi-opaque dark orange appearance.

A rough pour yielded a small eggshell head; frothy lace.

Pumpkin pie, graham cracker, mild cranberry & faint booze heat notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Graham cracker & pumpkin pie flavors up front; faint cranberry notes on the finish. A cinnamon bite settled on my lips over the course of the quaff.

Mild, but enough to hold my interest; above average for the "pumpkin beer" genre.

A: copper. Thin, fuzzy head.
S: pumpkin pie filling.
T: meh. Bitter, weird-spicy, alcohol, cinnamon and nutmeg.
M: medium-high carbonation. Medium body. Dry.
O: I'm not a huge pumpkin beer fan. Now I remember why. I am rating this 3, but if you are a fan of this style, maybe it is good to you. Not me.

Not my favorite from New Belgium. The cranberry tartness takes away from any pumpkin and spice flavor. Not in my preferred flavor profile (pumpkin, vanilla, spice) for a fall brew.
