look: 3.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3.25

Poured from a bomber into a hefe glass. Moderate hand. Label reads packaged June 2013.

A: Hazy to slightly cloudy golden yellow. 1 1/2 fingers of fizzy, white head. Quickly dissipates to a film. Light lacing.

S: Citric acid, lemon tartness with funky notes. Hay, horse blanket. Yeast. Smells legit.

T: Round citrus, apple-hinted sour. Relatively low tartness for the style, however. Slightly funky notes. Light bitterness on a mostly dry finish. Alcohol presence consistent with 8% ABV. Orange. Apple. I suspect yuzu, but wouldn't really know... Not much in the way of wheat flavors.

M: Moderate carbonation with a slight prickliness. Moderate body - relatively full for the style. Doesn't quite convey the crispness of a typical Berliner weisse.

O: Never had an imperial Berliner weisse before. Unfortunately, I feel it seemed to muck up what I enjoy about the style, namely a light, sour, low ABV brew. Nose was nice, but taste didn't quite deliver. Could use a bit more zing. Not bad, but nothing I'd revisit.

Prost!
