Purchased October 2017 in Door County. Amazing mead that does not taste 19% ABV but does have a little boozy bite (but not a 19% bite). Sweet as a after dinner drink like a port I suppose. Lots of honey and molasses(?) in this. I wonder what hops are used. A little expensive even for Door County in the off season but love this. Certainly NOT a beer

Striking golden color, pours as a mead would. Nose is aggressively floral, tons of hibiscus, basil, pepper, medicinal alcohol with some crystal sugar & grassy hop underneath. Taste is obviously sweeter with a robust honey backbone, but those flower notes are still very muscular and borderline overwhelming. There is also a bit of oaky alcohol in there too, vaguely brandy / cognac, which helps even it out a little. A nice occasional alternative to a glass of port but there are better meads out there.

Draught. Reminds me of sherry. Very expensive.

Hmmm... Seems more like a sweet scotch than a beer. I don't understand why any of the other ratings don't note the smokey/peaty flavor? It's super sweet, with a honey/smokey/peat finish. I don't get the hibiscus, champagne notes that others speak of. Still it's not that noticeable that your drinking that heavy of a beer. Note my thing, but definitely a different experience. Try it once and never again, but not your typical beer. Not delicious, but different. And it will f--- you up quick if that's your thing, although that's a lot of sugar to get lit on!

Look: light amber, no carbonation, and obviously no head
Smell: Honey, Peach, Floral
Taste: Absolutely amazing! While I like mead on occasion, I have never particularly liked sweet mead. That changed today. Tastes like it smells but better. The alcohol is present, but not at all overwhelming. Simply delicious.
Mouthfeel: nothing surprising here...slightly syrupy with a mild astringency from the alcohol.

Overall: Really glad I put down the $15 for this at Pouring Glory in Ft. Worth, TX. A big departure for this hop-head, but a really pleasant one.

The pour is light amber with no head because it is a mead.

Smell is very sweet floral and honey

On the tongue there is a thickness that would come with a mead. The hops is only noticeable on the aftertaste. Sweet on the tongue and very floral.

A very easy drink for the ABV. No kick that barlywines or other high ABV beers may have. It fits in neatly between a hard liquor and a high ABV red ale.

The slight honey and hibiscus notes make it a great after dinner drink for people that do not like a dry red wine and dislike a scotch.

Poured into a snifter.

A: Definitely watered down apple juice, from another reviewer's description. Pear colored, clear. No head.

S: Super sweet and fruity. Apricots, plums.

T: Someone in our group called it "rocket fuel" but I'm more partial to apricots and plums on steroids. Holy sugar rush! Drink this one slowly, it has a potency with the 19%.

M: Heavy syrup. No carbonation to speak of.

O: I'm glad I got to try this interesting mead. It's certainly a conversation piece at a tasting.
