On tap at Kickback's Gastropub in Jacksonville, FL.

Pours a clear light amber, with no head or lacing, as one would expect with a 19% beverage.

This smells really sweet and honey-ish, with some slightly stinging booze, apricot, honey, molasses, and pure sugar.

This is absolutely insane. The 19% is not felt as strongly as one would expect for something like this, but it's still definitely there, and provides a slight astringency and massive warmth to the taste. There's tons of honey and molasses, spices, and a little bit of hibiscus. This is intensely sweet on the finish.

This is fairly light bodied for the ABV and heft, with a sticky, syrupy, almost flat mouthfeel. The carbonation levels are exceedingly low.

This is an insane mead/beer. It's a mead made with hops, but the hops aren't noticeable. It tastes really great, but it's hard to get through a ton of it.

Taste is stone fruit--apricots and plums, honey, slight root beer, and tree bark. There are some interesting spices. Almost tastes like a sahti, but really tastes more of mead than beer. Really good for what it is. Glad I got to try this in bottle format as well as on tap. Expensive, but worth it if you want a mead.

Poured from a large ceramic bottle into a snifter.
Aroma- Has a sweet fruit aroma with a strong alcohol smell.
Appearance- The color of watered down apple juice, with no head.
Taste- The flavor is not bad but it is nowhere near tasting like a beer. Once you get that out of your head the honey flavor isn't bad, there is a strong alcohol taste and bite.
Palate- Dry, light bodied beer with no carbonation. Has a syrup like texture.
Overall- I think this is slightly over-rated by those before me. It would make a nice aperitif.

Poured into a snifter.

A: Definitely watered down apple juice, from another reviewer's description. Pear colored, clear. No head.

S: Super sweet and fruity. Apricots, plums.

T: Someone in our group called it "rocket fuel" but I'm more partial to apricots and plums on steroids. Holy sugar rush! Drink this one slowly, it has a potency with the 19%.

M: Heavy syrup. No carbonation to speak of.

O: I'm glad I got to try this interesting mead. It's certainly a conversation piece at a tasting.

Clearly not beer, so it's almost unfair to rate this, especially based on appearance. It looks like orangey pink wine. As you'd guess, a 19% ABV 'beer' produces no head. Not a bubble to be found.

It smells good, but it's nothing that resembles a beer. The honey and flowers are pronounced. That's about it. Nothing resembling a hop, a malt, or any yeast found my nose.

The taste reminded me of a wine cooler from back in the day, minus any carbonation. Again, no hops or malt. Plenty of alcohol, wine-like.

It's pretty smooth for something ('beer') so strong. Very fruity and floral. Plenty of heat from the ABV, but nothing overbearing.

Again, not sure this should count as a beer, because it simply isn't. It's kind of neat to sip, yes sip, in the way that Utopias is. It's fairly easy to drink for a 'beer' that is so strong. A neat experience.

Striking golden color, pours as a mead would. Nose is aggressively floral, tons of hibiscus, basil, pepper, medicinal alcohol with some crystal sugar & grassy hop underneath. Taste is obviously sweeter with a robust honey backbone, but those flower notes are still very muscular and borderline overwhelming. There is also a bit of oaky alcohol in there too, vaguely brandy / cognac, which helps even it out a little. A nice occasional alternative to a glass of port but there are better meads out there.
