Great selection for a smaller, in town convenience store. NOT comparable to Gary's, what so ever - Gary's has almost 3 times the space! Could use a larger warm section but they also sell a lot of wine, so space is limited.

Great local craft selection(Smutty, Shipyard, Allagash, Harpoon, etc) Great "imported" craft selection(Sierra Nevada, Anchor Steam, etc).

Prices are reasonable. Staff is courteous.

Again, NO comparison to Gary's! Great selection for locals & a great spot to check out if you are passing through!

Third of three places i visited on my quick trip to Portsmouth yesterday.

This place has a better selection than Cabot but not as much as Gary's. They don't sell singles of their beers unless you count the Premium Beer Singles rack that had about 3 beers. On top of the same as Cabot, they also had a Brewdog Tokyo, some Kona, a few from Cisco as well as some Krusovice of all things. The woman at the cash seemed nice. You can come here after Gary's to maybe check out one or two beers that you couldn't find at Gary's but other than that, don't bother.

has decent selection for a hole in the wall variety store and is probably awesome for someone living nearby, as it rids them of the need to have to travel far for any decent staples(although if i were to live above this store, i would own Portsmouth Brewery growlers, and would simply make sure they are never empty). didn't see anything other stores, like smiley's or gary's, don't carry, but that's new hampshire for ya.
one major issue is that with the exception of some of the specials(no good deals on my visit though) pretty much none of the beers had prices on them! this usually discourages people from trying new things and also from buying many bottles on one visit, as prices can vary hugely from store to store.
another reason it doesn't stand up to two other area stores is the lack of decent specials. gary's and smiley's usually have discounted 12 packs, sometimes at rock bottom prices, that one can take home if they want a semi decent brew at a low price.

Walking around town, we swung in here as a pit stop on our pub crawl. Looks like a plain old convenience store from the outside. Except the huge DFH sign calls you to go in. All the beer is in the back. Pretty decent sized selection of six packs and bombers. Most are cold, but there is another shelf off to the far right with some bombers on it. Mostly American stuff, with a very good selection of MA, NH, and ME beers. We walked all over town, and this was the only place that looked like it had an extensive selection that we came across. Picked up a bottle of the Long Trail Brewmaster Series Coffee Stout for $4.99. The skater looking kid behind the counter impressed me with his knowledge of LT and the next few beers coming out in the series. A good place to pick up some souvenirs.
