Dirty Little Freak Coconut Caramel Chocolate Brown Ale, first brewed in 2014, takes the traditional American Brown Ale and gives it a sensual new twist – Coconut! This medium-bodied, 5.8% abv brown ale is a feast for the senses from its dominant blend of warm, roasted malt, coconut, caramel, and chocolate flavors barely restrained by a gentle hop bite, to its tantalizingly satisfying finish. But if you submit to our Dirty Little Freak, be warned: there is no safe word.

The color is dark caramel, kind of like a cola, but not as rich. In an Imperial pint glass, it appears dense enough, as fingers on the other side of the glass can't be seen. Coconut dominates the aroma, once poured from a twelve ounce brown bottle. There's no head nor glass lacing. A good balance of the listed flavors occurs in the taste. That it's dry and very far from overly sweet is a plus. But part of that accomplishment seems to be at the expense of the mouthfeel. That runs way too thin to make this a good one.

12oz bottle (no date) poured into 16oz tulip. Poured a cloudy brown color with 1/4 inch of tan head that had low retention and no lacing. also, there were a ton of floaties that took a couple minutes to settle to the bottom.

Chocolate at the front of the nose, with a gentle base beeryness in the background. Maybe a hint of coconut, maybe not.

Similar on the tongue, a basic brown with some chocolate.

The body was smooth, medium-light, and had a semi-sweet finish.

Drinkability was fine, but not really thrilling.

Overall, an OK brew, but a bit disappointing.

The flavor is all in the finish, comes thru with chocolate first then the vanilla/coconut sets in ..

The base beer smells decent but I would like to try it without the vanilla.

12 ounce bottle poured into a snulip glass.

L---Medium brown color when poured in light, but darker in the glass. Fluffy tan head faded quickly to a cap. Good lacing

S---Coconut is prominent. Some light caramel and chocolate.

T---Follows the nose. Coconut is dominant with slight caramel and chocolate.

F---Medium/full mouthfeel. Good carbonation.

O---There's a whole lot of goodness in this 5.8 %er.

Bottled 5/3/20? 6/3/20? Idk, it's a bit faded

A bit of an oddball here, adjuncted brown ales aren't all that common, especially not with coconut. Let's see how this goes

Pours a murky dark amber with a finger of tan head that quickly reduces to a cap and leaves minimal lacing

The nose is very attractive here, much more than I was expecting. Notes of sweet vanilla and coconut, but offset by earthy chocolate, dark malt, nuttiness, raisin, and a very subtle touch of oak. Smells like a much heavier beer

The taste does not hold up quite as well, but it's still tasty. On the front end, this feels like a nice light brown ale with solid malt, light citrusy hops, and a hint of vanilla. The swallow brings the coconut in full force, with some caramel, pecan, and raisin

A medium body combines with very mild carbonation for a smooth and sweet drinking experience that is also sessionable. A little sticky sweet on the finish but not overly so

A pretty good brown ale! I was honestly neglecting it for the longest time because it was never really calling my name, and I thought it was be too sweet, but this was pretty balanced

The pour is mocha colored. The taste is roasted malts, vanilla beans, chocolate liquer, mild caramel & mild coconut. Oh well, it was interesting to try a beer made with chocolate, caramel, coconut flavors & vanilla beans. Cheers! B
