Notes / Commercial Description:
Dirty Little Freak Coconut Caramel Chocolate Brown Ale, first brewed in 2014, takes the traditional American Brown Ale and gives it a sensual new twist – Coconut! This medium-bodied, 5.8% abv brown ale is a feast for the senses from its dominant blend of warm, roasted malt, coconut, caramel, and chocolate flavors barely restrained by a gentle hop bite, to its tantalizingly satisfying finish. But if you submit to our Dirty Little Freak, be warned: there is no safe word.

Surprisingly drinkable. Definitely an acquired taste.
There sweetness is different at first but then easy to consume afterwards. 3-4 pints together is great but could not imagine having with food. Maybe with some sweet pastries.
The coconut and chocolate mixed will without leaving a bad taste.

Deep brown in color and murky in complexion. There's a fingernail of brown around the rim and covering about a third of the top. The nose is milk duds and coconut. I'm tasting milk duds and a suggestion of coconut, but that malted milk ball flavor is intense. The mouth is lightly oily and viscous.

Appearance - Pours chestnut brown with a tan, finger width head sitting atop. Fair retention results in a thin, broken layer of suds and a fair ring around the edge of the glass. Good amount of lacing, consisting mostly of broken lines and spotting.

Smell - Coconut hits the nostrils first, then a good whiff of the chocolate. Vanilla comes through faintly.

Taste - Follows the nose. Lots of toasted coconut and chocolate upfront and through the finish. Faint vanilla as well. Caramel comes in faintly. Light earthy bitterness that keeps this from becoming completely cloying, but it still finishes on the strong side of sweet.

Mouthfeel - Medium-to-full in body with soft but moderate carbonation. Silky texture with a slightly dry finish.

Overall - Pretty good brew, but the strong sweetness makes this a good option as a dessert brew moreso than something you'd want to session or drink regularly.

12 ounce bottle, packaged on 022817. Thanks to my buddy Denis for this bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown with not quite an inch light tan head that stuck around a little while. There's a small amount of lacing. Aroma is nice and sweet, the brew smells like caramel, milk chocolate, vanilla, and roasted malt. For the most part the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, with caramel, coconut, vanilla, chocolate, and roasted malt flavors. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's a bit coating and is easy enough to drink with moderate carbonation. If you're into sweeter tasting brews, then this is worth a try. I liked it.

Light coconut taste, chocolate smell, not overly carbonated, smooth, light lingering bitterness aftertaste. Dark amber color like cola, decently smooth, Would drink again if offered.

Coconut and caramel (and vanilla) in a brown ale sounds like a recipe for disaster equal to DuClaw's synthesized-in-a-lab Sweet Baby Jesus. Surprisingly, this beer checks a lot of the artificial-tasting flavors at the door, and makes instead a relatively bland tasting brown ale. This beer succeeds at being inoffensive, but little else; to be fair, that in itself seems to be an accomplishment for this brewery.

Dirty Little Freak brewed by DuClaw Brewing Company, with an ABV of 5.80% This American brown ale pours out a deep brown color with a small off white head. This brew has the look of cola not saying that is a bad thing. There is also some nice spotty lacing to this brew, it does stick to the side of the glass. The smell of Dirty Little Freak is rich with roasted grians and malts. You also pick up on some nice mild hops and sweetness in the smell of this brew. So far this is a nice inviting brew, now for the taste it bold and rich with Flavors. The first thing you pick up on is the roasted grians and malts, with a nice sweetness. You also pick up on mild chocolate sweetness in the taste. There is a lot going on in Dirty Little Freak. This is a well balanced brew. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it goes down nice and smooth. I really enjoy how different this brew is from, most brews on the market. The body of this brew is a soild medium. Overall I'm giving Dirty Little Freak a 4.50 out of 5. I would buy this brew again givin the chance to. If you are looking for a darker brew look this brew up.

Had a bottle, from Whole Foods. The first couple sips were good. coconut flavor was nice. But then it seemed thin and the flavor wasn't as good. Didn't end up finishing it.

Pours a clear dark brown color. 1/5 inch head of an off-tan color. Decent retention and slight lacing. Smells of coconut, sweet malt, hint of roasted malt, and a hint of yeast. Fits the style of an American Brown Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of coconut, sweet malt, hint of roasted malt, and a hint of yeast. Overall, weak appearance, simple body, with an average aroma.
