Pours opaque, dark black in color with 1/2 inch head. Taste is sugar, roasted malt, vanilla, smoke and a touch of strawberries. More milk stout and less strawberry beer. Was expecting more strawberry taste, but the amount of strawberry actually really works well with this beer. Smoke adds an unexpected pleasantness to the beer. Tasty and smooth..One I would reach for again. Really good summer beer.

DATE: September 15, 2016... OCCASION: football Thursday with Shan... GLASSWARE: Guinness pint... jet black body, as expected... a brown creamy head settles to a half-finger... lacing sweeps with thick smears... chocolate merges with strawberry, with vanilla, and peat... the first sip is a rush of strength, with a liveliness at the throat and a grit throughout the tasting... full-bodied, reasonably drinkable... salty? a bit of brine, like an oyster stout... as the glass drains, no sign of lacing... the strawberry is slightly puckerish, the cocoa mellow, the overall experience doable... this is a stout that balances its food groups with a sweet confection... though I am not a fan of strawberries, I can appreciate this offering...

Look: Dark; 1 finger of beige foam

Smell: Roasty Coffee

Taste: A very subtle hint of sweetness that segueways into a very roasty deep
espresso-bitter finish. Never got the strawberry.

Feel: Fairly thick, although not overly so.

Overall: I was worried that this would be overpowered by the roasted
coffee bitterness, which many of this ilk succumb too. Surprisingly,
the very mild upfront sweetness counterbalanced the coffee just
enough for my palate. Don't know that I'd ever buy a six of this,
but could see an occasional bottle.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours a deep black color with a small creamy khaki colored head that retains a while before reducing to a ring around the edge

S- charred malt with milky cocoa a hint of caramel, strawberry syrup and light vanilla

T- roasted malt up front with a hint of char, followed by milky lactose with gives notes of vanilla cream. Mid-palate brings out the strawberry, it tastes very similar to strawberry syrup and continues into the finish, mixing with milky cocoa for a nice linger

M- medium body with moderate-low carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns slightly creamy into the finish

O- pretty tasty milk stout, the strawberry comes out much more as it warms, something I'd have again

Pleasantly surprised with this milk stout. Pours a deep blackish brown with a nice head of light brown foam that subsides to a thin ring, subtle pool, and light lacing. Nose of milk chocolate dipped strawberries and deeply roasted malts. Flavors exceed the nose with strawberry notes and dark chocolate on the front and sides with a middle of the taste that features notes of strong dark coffee and deeply roasted malts and a touch of milk sugar. Smooth and coating, subtly creamy, and nice medium carbonation makes this an excellent brew. One of the better fruit stouts I have tried. Granted, I always thought fruit should be saved for a famine, but this is pretty darn pleasurable without an artificial note.

Cheers

12 fl. oz. bottle
Served in a snifter

This beer pours black and is topped with an inch of mocha head that leaves little lacing.

I can smell chocolate and strawberry. It is reminiscent of Neapolitan ice cream.

My initial taste was pretty good. The strawberry flavor comes across as strawberry milk with chocolate flavors in the finish. The more I drink, the more I get a building unsweetened chocolate taste that leaves a bitter finish.

Full mouthfeel

It is not bad. The bitter/burnt taste that builds after a few sips is a little offputting, but I would probably have it again if I was craving a strawberry milk stout.
