DuClaw Brewing Co. "Never Tell Me The Odds"
16 fl. oz. can coded "#COMEONCHEWY ! 12:03:34 4/9/20 NTMO-07-030420"
Notes via stream of consciousness: A STAR WARS beer, eh? I hadn't put two and two together when looking at the name but I did take note of the hops though: Calypso, Mosaic, Comet, and Bravo. It's a cloudy orange in color beneath a medium-sized head of white. The aroma is fairly bright and expresses tropical fruits, orchard fruits, and a bit of earthiness over a bready malt base. The flavor is even more fruity than the aroma suggests with notes of apple, pear, berries, orange, and a hint of lime. It's a little tea-like in the finish. It's not really that bitter but neither is it sweet, and I'm not really finding the 8% ABV although there is a little bit that helps to dry the finish. In the mouth it's medium bodied with a fine-bubbled, standard carbonation level that lends a little zest upfront but then warms to become smoother at the swallow. Overall I'm pretty impressed by this.

Deep orange in color with a heavy haze. Poured with a short, bright white foam with medium low retention. Mellow aromas of papaya and mango with earthy undertones. And light bready malt. Medium bodied with medium low carbonation. Light creamy feel with prickly, boozy heat from start to finish. Fleshy tropical fruit flavors, papaya and hints of mango, with medium malty base. Medium hop bitterness in the middle followed by over-ripe pineapple, fleshy tropical fruit, and prickly boozy heat. Finished with a boozy bite, malty notes, light tropical and earthy hop notes. Hop character is fairly subdued and is a bit overwhelmed by the booziness. Generally, a bit lacking in character.

From a can. this one poured a dull orange-yellow, moderately cloudy by todays standards with a solid cap of clingy white foam that hung in well and kicked up easily with a swirl of the goblet.
Aromas are a little bit lacking but notes of lemon and honey up front with some spicy almost German Noble hoppish subtle hints of lavender and crushed clovers.
Classic Dbl IPA flavors of caramel malt , fruity hops and esters. Again, some soft sweet lemon noted but richer berry flavors as well. Interesting hop varieties listed on the can ( calypso, comet, mosaic, bravo) makes me wonder which one or what combination produces that strawberry-gooseberry sweetness.
This beer achieves excellent balance despite the hop dominance required of the style, the bitterness and "juiciness" is very much in check and this is a welcome relief from the uber citrus bombs so ubiquitous these days.
Body is medium to near full and the alcohol is well hidden even on the finish where it heats up the lingering hop aftertaste without being obnoxiously searing.
I would love to have this on tap from a keg fresh from the brewery. As it is, with no date on the can I can find I wonder how fresh this is. It has great drinkability for 8% and while the flavor is very good it doesn't "wow" me other than it's subdued complexity which makes me wonder if it might be better ( as most beers are ) fresh and maybe this can is not.
Bottom line is, it would be hard to imagine any hoppy beer lover that didn't like this.

16 ounce can poured into a tulip style pint glass.
It's opaque and colored gold-copper with one finger of thin effervescent foam that fades to a sparse cap inside of a minute. The nose is juicy, a little dank and sweet like pineapple with some citrus, I think can can pick out Mosaic. There is also biscuit and some alcohol. The taste reflects the nose, starts juicy and turns bitter with a bit of booze before a quick finish that is fairly clean. Soft, medium weight with medium carbonation it gives a little bit of prickly tongue bite.
If you are in the mood for a hazy double this one is pretty good.

L: Pale yellow, cloudy, big white head, lacing
S: not much of a nose
T: muted candid citrus
F: upfront mouthfeel, kinda watery
O: I guess it’s OK, definitely not a well made NEIPA, I wouldn’t revisit or recommend at $20/4-pack

doubted at first sight but when opened and taste one everything change. The crisp taste and smooth look, not too cloudy looks light but once you savor it thats when it starts you to admire it.

Pours golden/orange color with a appx 3/8inch head from a 16oz can.
S: Somewhat funky-sweet smell to it.
T: Most prominent flavor in the taste is grapfuit. There are with hints of melon (maybe canteloupe/honeydew). Not a strong alchol taste, not much bite to the taste. Mosiac hops add a complexity to it. This may add or subtract from the flavor, depending on preference; some may find it a little too complex (to the point where one may say the mosaic hops clash with the more citrus-like flavors). Citrus flavors are not prominent in this one.
Feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. Not crisp. This is a 5 out of 10 on the "juicy" scale of IPAs.

A thanks to the reigning champion of canned beer, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a golden/orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is funky, citrus. Taste is really unusual. Melons, alcohol, some citrus, moderate bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall, not bad, but these flavors just don't seem to be meshing well,

A: The beer is relatively clear golden yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that died down but left a thin layer of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of grapefruit and tangerine citrus are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of grapefruit along with hints of cantaloupe melons and slight bits of alcohol. There is also a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No crispness is detectable.
O: The mouthfeel of this beer is a little "juicy" and has the semblance of a New England-style IPA.
