12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 7/27/2016. Pours crystal clear deep orange/copper color with a small dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, cinnamon, nutmeg, light chocolate, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, spices, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, cinnamon, nutmeg, light chocolate, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal hop and spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, cinnamon, nutmeg, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, spices, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Very clean on lager flavors with zero yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately grainy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.7%. Overall this is a very nice spiced Munich dunkel lager style. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, spices, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, clean, and easy to drink. A bit more bitter/drying than the classic style due to the spice presence; but very well balanced and spot on otherwise. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours clear, amber in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is caramel, dark bread, with medium amounts of vanilla, and lesser amounts of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove at the end. Sweet and medium bodied. Tastes like a marzen with light pumpkin spices that slowly build up. Not over the top spicing at all. A pumpkin beer for those that like more of a beer taste. Above average, worth a try even though I prefer others in the style.

Finally a decent pumpkin beer! Seems like there are not as many this year!

12 oz bottle served in a snifter. 5.7% ABV listed on label.
Clear copper body with a good head.

Start as a lightly spiced amber lager but cinnamon and nutmeg build to a spicy finish. Still not over spiced as are so many pumpkin beers.

Medium body and carbonation.

A: Pours a crystal clear deep amber in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass with moderate garnet red + coal brown highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a mottled thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Slightly heavier than moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of roasted pumpkin, roasted pumpkin seeds, caramel malts, and pumpkin pie spices (nutmeg and allspice).

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of caramel + bready malts with a light to moderate amount of brown sugar sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of roasted pumpkins and roasted pumpkin seeds with a moderate flavor of pumpkin pie spices (nutmeg and allspice) in the finish. No perceptible hop presence.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: An interesting beer which has aspects of pumpkin ale and a Munich Dunkel Lager. Enjoyable but not sure I could have more than one of these in a session.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a copper/amber color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of pumpkin, nutmeg. Taste is pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, some malts. Feels medium bodied in the mouth an although this is not a true example of the style, it is a tasty and enjoyable beer.

Pours a clear amber that turns a lovely garnet in intense light. Normal head volume and retention, outstanding lacing.

Nice light nose of biscuit, caramel and hints of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Medium body with an almost creamy texture. Outstanding carbonation with a nice effervescent middle and a prickly finish.

If the flavor profile were a bit more intense, it would be outstanding. Balanced to perfection, the complexity is allowed to shine. Pumpkin makes a subtle appearance in the base, while light caramel and biscuit form the true backbone. Hops and bitterness are hints rather than main components. Spices float over the base and become most noticeable from the middle on but never dominate. The finish is a slow fade of the base with spice overtones.

Had two different DuClaw seasonals on successive nights: Although I preferred the imperial pumpkin
ale(62) head-to-head, 31 is also a well done seasonal, that like 62, provides the experience you'd expect from a seasonal without under or overwhelming. This beer is essentially a decent mazen-like lager that builds a little spice into the opening. Again, not overpowering, just enough to let you know you're drinking a seasonal, but without discrediting the core flavor of the beer. Great head on this one.
