Mysterium Belgian-style Spiced Ale brewed by DuClaw Brewing Company, with an ABV of 5.00% This brew pours out a deep golden amber color with a small white head. There is also a slight haze to the look of this brew. Spotty lacing to this spiced brew, it sticks. The smell is rich with spices and sweetness. You pick up on cinnamon, Ginger, and nutmeg. Reminds me of spiced tea, not saying that is a bad thing. You also pick up on earthy grains and malts, hops. There is a lot going on in Mysterium Belgian-style Spiced Ale. Now for the taste, it is bold with spiced malt flavors. I really like how this brew is different from most brews on the market. The body of Mysterium Belgian-style Spiced Ale is a soild medium. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it a has a nice spicy balance to it. If you are not into cinnamon, ginger, or nutmeg you possibly will not enjoy this brew. This is a nice spicy drinking brew. The mouth feel of Mysterium Belgian-style Spiced Ale is Spicy, Clean, Bold, And Refreshing. If you are into a spicy brew you should look this brew up. Overall I'm giving this brew a 4.25 out of 5. I would look this brew up again. I would get this to change it up from the other brews on the market. DuClaw Brewing Company, did a real nice job with this brew.

Enjoyed this brew on tap at Duclaw in Bowie out pint glass.

A: Pours an amber hue with absolutely no head (like almost every brew at Duclaw).

S: Spicy fruit and honey aroma.

T: Spicy flavor with a great caramel flavor and hints of ginger and cinnamon in the backgroud.

M: Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: I like this beer al lot – great flavors and aromas.

1/20/13 Had this out of the bottle - just as good.

Pours clear, tan in color with 1/2 inch head. Taste is big chamomile, cardamom, ginger, and Earl Grey tea. Light bodied, dry, moderate carbonation and slightly sweet. Reminds me of a very tasty Scottish Gruit. Interesting, light, and complex. Probably a one a night but shoulda picked up a six of this. Worth a try.

Mysterium | DuClaw Brewing Company. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, this brew's got a two finger thick head, webbed lacing, and a clear deep golden body.

I smell a pleasing, not-overpowering use of the spices and slightly zesty Belgian-style yeast.

Here, the spices meld somewhat awkwardly with the traditional Belgian ale components. Which is kind of confusing considering how nice the smell of this beer is. Not terrible, but certainly could be improved upon.

Medium-light mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

I'll choose to give Mysterium | DuClaw Brewing Company an overall rating of a 4. Again, the taste is just wonky. This was bottled on December 28th, 2016, so its still relatively fresh. I strongly doubt I will buy this brew again.

This beer poured out as a clear looking golden yellow color with a fizzy white head on top. The head retention and lacing were very minimal. The smell of the beer was really interesting, it had a very nice herbal spice aroma to it that also came off as floral in some ways. The taste of the beer has some depth to it, the flavors are sweet then spicy then more mellow and then bitter in the far distance. The mouthfeel of the beer is a little too light in my opinion, it could use a little more body. Overall this beer was good I thought! I would drink it again.

Had this on-tap at the Bel Air location. They list it as a "Belgian Spiced Ale" which seems to be a good description of it. I added it as a Spiced beer because it seemed a better fit than a BPA or a BSPA. Anyway, on to the review...

It was a slightly cloudy golden color. Thin off white head. Light lacing. The aroma was complex...fruity, floral, with chamomile and grains of paradise easily detectable. Nice kick of yeast in there, too. The flavor was along those same lines, with the fruity, funky yeast blending with the floral hop, candied sugar, chamomile, and a bit of spice (cardamom?). My wife even liked this one. Good mouthfeel, nicely carbonated. Easy, enjoyable drinker. The florals and spices grew as it warmed. Not bad at all.

An interesting pairing of chamomile and cardamon that sorta works...

Another very appealing drink to the eyes from DuClaw with thick head but no staying power. The smell was a very nice balance of the advertised spices and hops - light to the nose but definitely there. The drink was medium-bodied and a bit astringent - not a good combination. I found the beer to be relatively well-balanced with the chamomile and cardamon, though I could pull out the chamomile more than anything else. It was a decent beer, I was hoping for something a bit more unique and outstanding, but this was still good as it was.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass, but also had previously on draft at DuClaw's in Arundel Mills, MD

A: strong golden color, very little head to speak of it, lacing goes away quickly
S: spices - cardamom, cloves - are definitely present but not overwhelming. Very nice overall.
T: a lot of things going on that work together well - honey, hint of orange, cardamom, spices, some floral and hops scents. Very refreshing.
M: good body, not cloying at all, carbonation very good for the type of beer
O: Excellent summer/fall beer - worth having again for sure.

On tap at the Bel Air location the other day.

The beer pours a honey amber color with pretty good head retention and lacing. The nose is sweet and spicey, focusing on clove and brown sugar in abundance. Given the fairly intense aroma profile, I was a bit surprised and disappointed by the modest amount of flavor I got on this moderately (at most) sweet frame. I thought it was still pretty nice beer, but given how it smelled, I just expected more. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly smooth (almost all the beers I sampled at DuClaw were a bit under carbonated, which I'm sure affected the mouthfeel), and drinkability is pretty decent.

Nothing mind blowing here, but this was a decent enough beer, especially considering the low abv. I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more spice and hoppiness on the palate, but other than that, this wasn't bad at all.
