Notes / Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2011, this Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter is jet black in color with a tan, rocky head, full body and creamy, luxurious mouthfeel. Its lightly sweet, malty flavor is accented by rich flavors of chocolate, coffee and peanut butter, and balanced by a subtle hop character and moderate 6.5% abv. Sweet Baby Jesus finishes smooth, dry, and roasty with lingering notes of chocolate and peanut butter so savory, you will exclaim its name!

Beer is very dark for the style. Even held up to the light it stays mainly black with some slight edges of cola/brown colored highlights. Thinner crown that is khaki in color doesn't stay too long, leaving just an outer ring in minutes.
The smell is peanut butter first and foremost. It is demanding you know it's there. Then the chocolate comes to remind you not to forget it's there. Reminiscent of Reese's puff cereal.
The taste is more chocolate than the peanut butter with the peanut still being present. This does still remind me of Reese's puff cereal.
The mouthfeel is thinner than I expected and what I would like. Have to remember this is a porter tho. I would still like some more body and bounce to this and I feel like it would help the flavor out as well.
Overall, it's not anything mind blowing but a solid brew and a treat nonetheless.

This is a great beer if you like a lot of favor! It comes out black as night and leaves a beautiful tan head that stays for a long time. You are instantly hit by the strong, sweet smell of coffee. Your first sip, you are instantly hooked by the full bodied flavor of coffee, Chocolate and peanut butter. It's seriously the best Porter I ever had. I had this on draft at Corner Tavern in Naugatuck, CT.

I’m not much of a porter guy, I prefer stouts but as porters go this is a damn good one. Nice nose with the peanut butter and sweetness comes through. Peanut butter and lite chocolate in the front end of the palate as well. Yummy.

Dark brown in color with ruby red highlights. Poured with a moderate, creamy, mocha beige foam with medium retention. Rich, dark sweet malt, chocolate and peanut butter aromas with brown bread notes. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Creamy smooth feel through the middle with light warmth near the finish. Peanut butter flavoring up front with grainy, sweet dark malts and lightly roasted coffee. Medium, earthy, spicy hop bitterness through the middle. Peanut butter flavoring, chocolate, dark malts and roasted coffee return on the back end to the finish. Finished with grainy dark malt flavors followed by roasty malt and coffee bitterness that slowly tapers. I like peanut butter, but in my beer? Nevertheless, this was better than I expected. The peanut butter character added complexity to the aroma and sweetness. The coffee flavor and hop bitterness nicely balanced the pb and the maltiness. Easy to drink and flavorful.

A new to Indiana beer/brewery packaged on 02/09/18. Poured in a 12oz. snifter for the review.

Look- Pours a thin dark brown producing a finger of creamy tan foam. It gradually settles to a thin layer leaving a little lacing behind.

Smell- Roasted peanuts, bakers chocolate and brown sugar.

Taste- Chocolate, roasted peanuts, mild tobacco.

Feel- Creamy smooth, but slightly thin.

Overall- A good enough beer that's straight forward chocolate and peanuts. I'm happy with my six pack purchase, but I don't see myself buying it again. Perhaps an occasional taste if it's on tap?

Don't tell the Reese's People!

Bought solely because of the name. It amused me. Come on, Sweet Baby Jesus! How much more amazing can you get for a name? Unfortunately, all it has is a name. The chocolate is overwhelmed by the fake peanut butter flavor, and it just really doesn't work at all. There are no positives here. It is an offense to peanut butter, chocolate, and porters, and Sweet Baby Jesus wept.

The peanut butter has an unfortunate staying power. I need to brush my teeth to get rid of the taste of the very few sips I had. Burial at sea for this one. First time in my life I have been conscious and failed to finish a beer.

12 oz bottle undated from AC. Dark chocolate color and chocolate/peanut nose. Tastes like a dark chocolate peanut butter cup with a touch of roasted coffee/malt on the finish. No booziness. Easy drinking but filling.

Beige head from the dark brown colored brew. Light does pass along the edge. The head leaves a lattice of lace.

Sweet, peanut butter cup aroma. Very light coffee in the background.

This is a sweet beer with lots of peanut flavors. The chocolate notes are semisweet. There is some hop bitterness but it is soft enough to be in the background. The body is above average. This is accentuated by the lower carbonation. The aftertaste brings some alcohol warmth to the cocoa flavors.

The aroma is distinctly chocolaty, as is the flavor, especially when cold. There is certainly a malty character too. Roasted comes out stronger than peanuts, which only seemed to come forward when the beer had warmed up a fair amount. A nice drink!
