Style: American Porter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.50%

Notes / Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2011, this Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter is jet black in color with a tan, rocky head, full body and creamy, luxurious mouthfeel. Its lightly sweet, malty flavor is accented by rich flavors of chocolate, coffee and peanut butter, and balanced by a subtle hop character and moderate 6.5% abv. Sweet Baby Jesus finishes smooth, dry, and roasty with lingering notes of chocolate and peanut butter so savory, you will exclaim its name!

Reviewing from notes from a July trip to Pittsburgh. This was a bomber, poured into a plastic Solo cup in a hotel room where there was no other glassware option aside from drinking right from the bottle.

Appearance: Pours very dark, and forms a thick, frothy tan head that lasts for quite a long time.

Smell: This smelled more or less like a Reese's Cup in a glass, with some hints of beer malt around the edges of the mass of chocolate and peanut butter.

Taste: Exactly as the nose, this was effectively like drinking an alcoholic Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. There were hints of some charred malt, but primarily a sweet blast of milk chocolate and peanut butter.

Mouthfeel: Typical porter mouthfeel, light to medium-light in body.

Overall: I rather enjoyed this beer, and will likely pick it up again should I ever run across somewhere in Cincinnati that carries it.

opaque black, with bubblets rising up. Huge fan of the porter look
smell is a little light, but notes of chocolate and peanut butter coming through
taste is not sweet at all!, peanut butter notes, dry and thirst quenching, the porter bubbles delightfully on the toungue
aftertaste leaves a bit to be desired

This brew could be the poster child for the "Anti-Craft Beer" people.

Pure gimmick. Too sweet, too fake tasting. Two sips in, and I'm feeling sick to my stomach from the cloying heaviness. Add to that an aftertaste that refuses to go away, and you have a perfect example of why some people laugh at the craft beer industry.

*This* should have been the beer that Bud mocked in their infamous ads ...

Delicious peanut butter cups in a bottle! 1 of my favorite dessert beers. Try it.

Had on tap out in Northern Virginia. This is a fun beer to drink - it literally does bring to mind liquid peanut butter chocolate cups. Extremely sweet - there is no bitterness to balance it out. This is a pure dessert beer. Is the sweetness a little cloying? Perhaps but I think that's the point with this one.
