Notes / Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2011, this Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter is jet black in color with a tan, rocky head, full body and creamy, luxurious mouthfeel. Its lightly sweet, malty flavor is accented by rich flavors of chocolate, coffee and peanut butter, and balanced by a subtle hop character and moderate 6.5% abv. Sweet Baby Jesus finishes smooth, dry, and roasty with lingering notes of chocolate and peanut butter so savory, you will exclaim its name!

Had on tap. Pours black with a half inch, fairly well retained half inch head that left little lacing, Smells predominately of peanut butter with notes of chocolate and coffee. Tastes like liquid peanut butter with a bitter finish and an odd after taste.
Light bodied and lightly carbonated, creamy mouth feel. One and done for me.

If you're not into PB then don't get it. I wasn't too excited to try because it is a Choco PB porter, but what they hey.. pleasantly surprised.

The PB is strong in aroma. That is about the only thing overwhelming. Not in a bad overpowered way. I've had worse. The PB is faint in aftertaste. I think the olfactory sense definitely contributes to the PB taste. It is a strong note and I think that's the turn off for most of your not into PB peeps.

Not too heavy a porter overall. Definitely not a typical coffee porter,so don't expect it.

Interesting try if you want to venture, not must seek and find for me, but enjoyable and I'm NOT a 'PB is my fav' person. For what it is labeled, one of the better and more enjoyable.

This beer is very good. Glad they got rid of the chem additive and went w the natural shiznit. Would like it to have had a bit heavier feel but still very nice for a porter.

L - Near black pour with a light brown head which disipated quickly. Fair lacimg.
S - P.B. smell from the pour with chocolate on the nose. Slight coffee smell, too.
T - A good porter taste with a P. B. aftertaste. Smooth.
F - Thick on the tongue with a semi-dry finish.
O - A nice beer that is pretty easy to drink. Pretty solid all around.

Got this off a trade. Seen some of their stuff at the local store but never intrigued me enough to nab some. Had low expectations going into this but it surprised me in a good way. Upfront you get that sweet chocolate milk flavor with some peanutty aroma. Taste is more chocolate milk with some kind of peanut butter concentrate like flavor. It's not what you expect but it tastes pretty good. Mouthfeel is decent for a 6pcter and carbonation is medium to low. Would get this again for sure.
