Pre-Prohibition style salutes a time when lagers had greater character and more distinct flavor, when beer wasn't full of the additives found in many of today's mainstream lagers. Lucky Bucket's version has a light, malty flavor that's easy on the palate. Filtered twice, the subtle maltiness nicely balances a floral hop. Dry-hopped with a fresh blend of aromatic West Coast hops, Lucky Bucket Lager is a great session beer with an ABV of 4.5% and 20 IBU's.

Pours from the bottle a clear amber, light half-inch eggshell head, little lacing. Nose is light toffee and caramel, noble hops, slight metallic notes. Taste follows - light toast and brown bread, sweeter malts, toffee; as it warms, there's some minerality as well. Mouthfeel is very soft and smooth. A solid sessionable, malt-forward beer.

Appearance: Pours a clear, deep orange color with a slight red/amber hue. Nearly no head. SRM of 15-16. (3.75)

Aroma: Smooth and malty aromas of nuts and caramel.

Flavor: Smooth and malty flavors. Lots of pecan, nutella, sweet corn, and caramel. Smooth and delicious. No hops. No bitterness. Minimal yeast, mostly malts.

Feel: Medium-bodied. Low carbonation. Smooth on the palate.

Compared to CAstle Danger's Castle Cream Ale 2/5/21: Pours a slightly darker color. Stronger aromas. More nuts and caramel. Stronger malt profile.

Overall: My first Pre-Prohibition style lager. This one was surprisingly impressive. Nice strong malty aromas/flavors. It has nuts & caramel. Flavors similar to a brown ale, but lighter and dry. Quite delicious, and packed full of malty flavor for 4.0% ABV.

One of the more unique beers I've had in a while...

My second offering from the sixer I brought back from Nebraska, this one is from La Vista. Great dark copperish coloration with thin foam, the smell and taste are oakey to me. I have no other way of describing it. The oak taste interestingly enough is better than the smell, all of it wrapped in a light and crisp mouthfeel. As unique as this was, it was strange - not terribly strange, but not the kind you want to overly laud, either.

It’s really nothing special. It’s just a grainy slightly sweet lager. It pours with no head, has a very neutral sweet malt aroma and very straight forward grainy sweet taste with maybe a bit of lemon. It’s passable for what it is, I would compare this to a Dos Equis amber. I’d drink it over a bud, And it’s go well with tacos. Wouldn’t seek it out though.

From the bottle, it pours a nice amber with virtually no head. No lacing. Nose is bready with a touch of caramel. Taste is pretty much the same. Pleasant and agreeable.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle, which says 4.0% abv on it. Has a copper color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, bready malts. Taste is the same, very mild, on the bland side. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer.

Cloudy orange to dark gold head, light head with some residual carbonation after the pour. Bread and caramel in the snoot, nothing exciting game here on this one, not a very good beer at all. Glad I bought it as a single. Pass on this one.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy medium orange/amber/light copper color with a small dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of cracker, toasted biscuit, brown bread, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. A bit fruity/yeasty, but not overwhelming. Flavors of cracker, toasted biscuit, brown bread, light nuttiness, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light herbal/grassy/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of cracker, toasted biscuit, brown bread, light nuttiness, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and balance of bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Minimal dryness. Fairly clean on lager flavors, with minimal yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately bready/grainy mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4%. Overall this is a nice lager. All around nice robustness and balance of bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, clean, and refreshing to drink. Feels a bit more like a Vienna lager. Nice clean malty flavor, with just enough hops to balanced the sweetness. A nicely enjoyable offering.
