Notes: Founded in 2009, The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery is Charlotte’s oldest local brewery, igniting the ultra-premium beer scene in the region and continuing to be at the forefront of the local market ever since. OMB adheres to the oldest purity guidelines in the world, the German “Reinheitsgebot.” This law states there can be only four ingredients in beer: barley or wheat malt, hops, yeast and pure water. OMB was recently named to the Inc. 5000 list, one of only nine breweries included and the only in North Carolina. The brewery’s tour was named best in the country by the readers of USA Today. Try OMB because it’s local, drink it because it’s fresh.

Visited with Da Boss after visiting the Museum of the New South in Charlotte on 8-8-21.

Vibe inside was very good as the handsome bar face catches your eye as you walk in. No bar seating per se, but can hang out and imbibe as well as walk up ordering. There was a nice private side room for parties, etc. We sat outside in the massive court yard. Tons of seating available, probably capacity for 300-500.

Quality of their beers are very good, brewed to the German purity law, and executed flawlessly. Had the Hefe and the Alt Bier. Wish i had capacity to have the Pils but at $1.65 i only have so much room LOL!

Service was very good. I do not know if their bar scan menu and order process is Covid related but it is definitely the best i have experienced, Very easy to order your drinks and food AND keep the tab open. Easy to add your credit card info as well.

Selection of beers was pretty limited to maybe 8-10 on tap. They seemed to be seasonal driven so the Fest and Dunkel biers were not available.

Food was top notch as my Cherrywood smoked pastrami sandwich was spot on and Da Boss chicken sandwich was good.

Overall i am glad i picked Olde Meck as the first brewpub to visit in Charlotte. Can see a repeat visit in the future!

Vibe - The biergarten is very close to what is found in Germany - large area, lots of benches, outdoor cafeteria style serving area - this is about as close as it gets in the US
Quality - the bier is fresh and good
Service - 2 bars inside, cafeteria outside, food trailer outside
Selection - years ago I bashed OMB for no weiss bier - hornets nest was the answer but it's not quite the same as a Maisel or Paulaner - needs more banana & sweetness - pro tip-if you like white bier, go inside to get it in the right glass, outside is will be in a 1/2L mug
Food - good selection and good service even when slammed

Brewery for the masses. The facility is large, with great outdoor space. Modeled after traditional German beer hall. They are probably the largest brewery by volume in charlotte but don't expect anything interesting beer wise. Everything they make is for the masses. Charlotte has an excellent beer scene and this is like TGI fridays.

Spent a Saturday afternoon here with my father drinking their traditional German style beers. The atmosphere was fun, band playing and customers brought their dogs to the outdoor beer garden. Very good and informative free brewery tour. Servers knowledgeable about the “Reinheitsgebot” brewing laws that this brewery follows. Overall a great experience and would/will return one day. We didnt eat so I know no nothing about the food but it looked good. If you want a solid tasting, fresh German style brew and can't make it to Germany, stop by this place.

Really nice outfit. if you want the full menu, you have to sit inside. Curry wurst is not authentic. Service is pretty good. No problem getting a beer. Food is meh though.

Update. They have vastly improved the currywurst, so I take back the meh comment.
This place reminds me of Oktoberfest. On all the time. I lived in Germany for 30 months and rarely went to a place this large. Believe me when I say that this is as close to German beer you will find almost anywhere in the USA.
My kind of place was a hole in the wall called Im Fass. It's not called that anymore. Now it is called Soweiso. And has turned into a popular club. Still in the same hole.

Get the Salzkartoffeln for a real German twist.

Large place with more then ample out door seating......German theamed through and through, food, beer, ambiance....I sadly got a "Disney land" kinda feel from this in...nothing was real, nothing I really could relate to....decent place to take the kids...other wise pass it up for the host of other real beer kinda places in town.

I visited Olde Mecklenburg Brewery on 7/26/18, mostly to sample some local Charlotte beer, and to bring a couple six packs home. I was immediately impressed with the big the place is. Their beirgarten is huge. The taproom looks like a German beer hall. I think they had 6 beers on tap. I tried the helles lager, and thought it was fantastic. The bartenders were super friendly and helpful. As far as beer to go, they had 6 packs, 12 packs and what looked like pre-filled growlers. Everything seemed reasonably priced as well. I hope to get back some day.

Dec 2017 - outskirts of Charlotte but reachable by the light rail with small walk. German bier hall ambiance, large open space, bars, table and extensive outdoor area. About 6-8 brews on tap, but samples not available when the place is busy. Good mixture of the german brews you'd expect. Well organized menu of german fare, reasonable priced, everything we ordered was tasty. Recommend a visit/.

This place is amazingly authentic German! You can't get any more real feel than their massive biergarten. The beer is perfect spot on to the German styles. The food amazing as well. This was my favorite of the 7 breweries I visited in Charlotte. Cannot wait to go back. We have the 1st Hofbrauhaus in the U.S. close to where I live, and this place is BETTER!

My wife and I ate here on a Wednesday around noon, it was not very crowded and the service was very quick. I loved the outside beer garden and the picnic style seating. I had the Mecktoberfest and Copper and both were amazing, it was my first time having both. The food was excellent as well, my wife and I split the butcher block pizza and the soft pretzel. They had roughly 10 beers on draft and the food selection was great.

This is a great lunch spot. Has the feel of an old pub, darkly lit but still with plenty of space and several televisions. The quality of the beer is excellent, they adhere to German purity laws and it is an awesome change of pace from all the crazy breweries out there. The service was helpful and attentive. Selection was low. Only 4 beers to choose from and then a couple shandys. The food is honestly the best part, a lot of authentic german food. The wurst and sauerkraut is excellent!
