A discount variety store with a respectable beer selection with some quality brews. Chimay, Ommegang, Duvel, Samuel Smith's, Fullers, and many other imports present, and at good prices. 750ml bottles Duvel are offered at $8.49, Ommegang Abbey Ale was $5.49. The only other place in Salem I have seen this available sells the same 750ml bottle for $7.49. Samuel Smith's 550ml bottles sell for $2.99 each, compared to $3.99 elsewhere. Prices for many items are very good. That is the good news.

They also have a decent selection of US microbrews, although this doesn't seem to be the store's merchandising emphasis. There were only three different bombers from Stone, many more from Rogue, among others. Prices on these are only slightly better than for which Fred Meyer, a regional grocer/department store sells them.

Not so good is that none of the beer is refrigerated. I also have seen some Deschutes beers with best by dates already past. I expect there may be other old product. Stock seems to change some, so I expect it does move well enough to avoid skunked product. At least I have not had any problems, yet.

They also have some nice assortments in two different 10 packs, one a "Beers of the World" and the other a summer beer selection. They also had a Chimay gift set with at least the red, white, and blue varieties with a special glass.

I go here primarily for price.

Cost Plus World Market is a large chain of variety stores carrying specialty items such as housewares, home decorations, nick knacks specialty foods, wines and of course many beers of interest. A friend mentioned this store to me yesterday so decided to check it out. It's located just off I-5 in a large shopping plaza in Keizer Oregon. This location offers many things of interest for the beer lover including a wide variety of beer glassware, microbrewed beers in bottles, mini kegs and a surprisingly high quality and well priced pair of mixed beer variety packs.

Beer lovers will find a good selection of at least one hundred (I didn't count) imported and US craft brewed beers with not a macro, whether import or domestic, in sight. The selection includes some unusual imports and craft brews, many bomber sized beers, some of the corked and caged quality and a few mini kegs as well.

CPWM also had two different ten pack samplers of various beers, which include an interesting melange of name brand and high end micos for only $11.99 each including: two different Weihenstephaners, Anderson Valley, Rebel, Hale's, Terminal Gravity, Grosser, Tanner's Jack and even two Pint size Nitro cans among others; a very good deal indeed. Where else can you buy twenty quality different beers for $24.00? Nowhere that I know of.

The store sizeable, with lots to see other than beer and wine related things. The store is very clean, well staffed and professionally managed. I brough the wife and kids and we all came away happy. CPWM is not specifically a beer store a fact that for me, if anything makes the nice selection of beer and beer related items to be found here all the more pleasing.
